McKay meeting the baby

I always thought it was so interesting how one of McKay's missionary companions, Steve Orton, later married a girl that McKay grew up with in our ward.

So today while I was sitting in Primary this morning, Anna Leesa came in to show me pictures of her new grandson. It's her daughter Kristy who is married to McKay's former missionary companion, and also former roommate at BYU.

So here is McKay holding little Jacob Orton. 7 lbs, 2 oz
When Steve called McKay to let him know that his son had been born he said, "The baby was breech so they had to take him c-section." And McKay responded, "I don't know anything about what you just said, but congratulations."
Here are McKay and Steve in years past,
while they served together the Florida, Tallahassee Mission in 2003-2004

McKay is on the far left, Steve on the far right
Jacob Riddle is next to Steve.
He also roomed with them the first year or so they were at BYU.

This post is so cute. Isn't it amazing how small the world is sometimes?

That's super cool. This just reinforces to me that the world is smaller than is! I laughed at McKay's commnet because someday....he'll understand baby lingo.

Oh, cute McKay!!! I just love that guy! And what sweet pictures of him holding that little angel...

I really don't know any young men McKay's age that would know what those terms are unless they are married and went through it all with their wives. It is a small world. I can't remember, did McKay line Steve up with Kristy or did they just happen to meet?

That just makes me laugh about him not knowing any of that. But then why should he!

This is probably old news to you, but Mckays Mission Pres. was Bret Bakers Bishop growing up! When Pres. Ertle was called into the SP, Brets dad Dave was made the Bishop of their ward in Taylorsville.

Actually Bret told me that. He was in McKay's room one night and saw a picture of McKay when he was AP to Pres Ertle and said, "I know that man!" Also, remember Carol Wardell? Well she and her husband are good friends with the Ertles. I found out the same way. She was visiting here a couple years ago and saw the picture in McKay's bedroom.
By the way, thanks Richard for calling and telling Den about that BYU game this week. As soon as we got home he turned it on!

Aren't friends neat?! It's great that they still keep in touch. McKay looks so cute holding the baby. Small world, isn't it? Love, Dad and Susan

What is Carols married name? Maybe the Bakers know her too.

Carol is married to Larry Stevenson. He works for the church employment dept...I've seen him on the BYU channel. I think Carol said Larry served in the stake presidency with Ertle.

It's cool to hear about the Young Women that was YW when I was a YW leader having babies...makes me feel old.

How cool. I had no idea about that connection. I like McKay's reaction to the C-section. Your boys (men) are so darling!

Jill thanks for sharing. I think its so fun to have this connection to you. I enjoyed reading the commentary and add that kristy's cousin married the Stevensons son so the world got even smaller.

Is that you Anna Leesa on that last comment?
Right, there is also the Stevenson connection. Carol Stevenson was my best friend all through elementary school and middle school. Then her son ends up marrying your husband's niece!

Jack's proud moment

Jack could hardly believe his good fortune  when they put the 4 year olds in charge of the fire!
