Marie Osmond
Have any of you read this book?
I did.
First, here are her 8 children:I have my issues with some of the book, so rather than review it, I want to share some of my favorite paragraphs:
In the 70s, a crowd of teenage girls would stand vigil outside what ever house, apt, studio, or hotel the Osmonds would be staying at. This is how Marie's mom would deal with them:I so agree with the quote below:
The first couple of years doing shows, Marie writes about how her parents would get one hotel room. Then they would take turns using the shower while living in the trailer hitched to their car:
And about her work with the Children's Miracle Network:
As a side note, Den's daughter are often asked if they are related to Marie. Once when they were at Disneyland, Marie's father came up to Kim and Kris and actually asked them, "Are we related?" I once showed the picture above to Donny's cousin's wife and she said, "They look more like Osmonds than my husband does!"
The video below includes pictures from the Osmond past, including some clips from home movies way long ago. The pictures start at about 2:45. Not to mention this song is beautiful!
Jack's proud moment
Jack could hardly believe his good fortune when they put the 4 year olds in charge of the fire!

You really know how to crdit your sources and I enjoyed your highlights from the book. Can't wait til the house wakes up so I can watch and hear the video clip.
You finally hit the question that has always been in my mind. "Who do those girls remind me of?" They do look like Marie. I'm interested in knowing what your issues are with the book too? I'll have to call you for that! Great post! Logan's zuchinis were awesome in my Chicken Stir Fry last night. YUM!
As soon as I saw the girls pictures a few posts back I said to myself those girls look exactly like Marie Osmond!
This is a great post. I always did like the Osmonds, I used to watch their show all the time.
I recently saw Marie Osmond in a television interview, she was very candid, and it was very touching. I'd like to read her book, thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.
Thanks for the video, it gave me chills. 'Loved it.
You have such interesting blogs Jill. We always enjoy them so much. I'd love to borrow the book to read if it's available. I love the insight about dressing babies. I've not thought of it that way before, but it really is true to keep "them" simple. They really don't need adornment to make them precious.
My granddaughter's blog has some cute baby pictures. I think it's Maldens.blogspot.com. If that's not right, I'll post another comment with the right one.
Love, Dad and Susan
It's TheMaldens.blogspot.com. Susan
Dennis's daughters DO look like Marie! They always look familiar to me when I see their pictures, maybe this is why!!
Dennis told me not to put that part about the Osmond dad asking the girls at Disneyland if they were related to him...he said no one would believe me. I told him that I have never made stuff up on my blog before so of course they would believe me. So even father Osmond thinks the girls look like his family.
I really needed this post today. I love the paragraphs you shared and the song is just what I needed to hear. And yes, Kim and Kris do look like they belong to the Osmonds! Thanks!
The video clip DELIVERED in every good way imaginable.
Of course we believe you! Always.
Jill, I just came over again to thank you for the kind words you left on my post today.
We know well that there are so many others that have had so much more to contend with, we know how Blessed we are, but that was so nice what your wrote, thank you.
And I'm very happy to have found new friends through writing. What started out as just a way for me to express myself has turned into another Blessing.
I was reading over the comments here, and Jill, I laughed OUT LOUD at what you wrote about not making things up! I never for a second thought you made that up about the Osmond Dad asking the girls at Disney if they were related!
Wow- that was a fun post to read! I liked the quotes you took from her book. We have so many "Marie Osmond stories" that I think I ought to write them all down! :)
Oh I would love to hear more of your Marie Osmond stories, Kris. You must get them all the time, because just about anytime I have been with you and Kim, I hear them from strangers who will come up to you.
