Kris is in the hospital

I knew when our phone rang late last night that it would not be good news.

It was Dennis' daughter Kim, calling to tell us that her sister Kris was just admitted to the hospital in Logan. She has a high fever, aching all over, and a really bad headache. Initially she was diagnosed with pneumonia in one lung. They tested her for meningitis this morning but thankfully that came out as negative. Now they are saying she has the flu.

She is miserable.

Mike stayed with her all last night. Kim and Mike have been trading places today between the hospital, and at home with the kids.

Interestingly, but not in a good way, Kris' 10 year old daughter Katelyn had pneumonia just 2 weeks ago. And then just yesterday Emily, Kim's 10 year old daughter, was also diagnosed with pneumonia at Urgent care. Kim's father in law also has it now.

I've never heard of so much pneumonia.

Of course we are all wondering if this is Swine Flu. I've heard it is spreading faster in Utah than any other state, but I'm not sure if that's true. Kris should get her results back in about 2 more days I think...so we will know just what kind of flu she has.

Meanwhile, she is being given Tamiflu. (My son Tyler, along with all the other teachers at the Missionary Training Center, are also on a 10 day course of Tamiflu right now as a preventative.)

I know Kris does not like to be away from her 4 children, and we know she is feeling really sick right now. We are hoping and praying for a quick recovery for Kris... and all the others who are sick.

The doctor is talking about possibly sending Kris home tomorrow since they can't do any more for her. I hope that Tamiflu kicks in soon!!

I took this video when they came out to see us last month.
Kim is doing most of the talking, and Kris is to the left, along with Emily on the couch.
Watching this, makes me miss them all the more...

Beautiful daughters you guys have and what a cute line of dolls Kim has. The news tonight said there have been more than 700 cases of swine flu reported here in Utah. They say not to panic but to be really cautious in washing your hands, avoiding people who are coughing or sick, etc. It's a concern if that really is a true count. I will keep Kris in my prayers. That is too bad that so many people from their family has been sick. Thanks for sharing the cute video clip.

Oh my word...that is such a pain for Kris & everyone else afflicted with pneumonia or whatever kind of flue that is. It is so unusual to have that many down all at once.

Prayers are powerful and let this pass quickly! Sorry to hear that they have to go through all of that. I'll be looking forward to seeing the video tomorrow! It looks cute already with just them on the couch.

It's so hard when you are far from loved ones and you feel helpless to do anything. But I'm a firm believer in the Power of Prayer, and that is definitely something we all can do in this situation.

Loved the video, thanks for sharing.
You and your beautiful family are in my prayers, Jill.

So sorry to hear about Dennis's daughter being ill. After having all your boys, Jill, isn't it fun to have so many girls added to your family? I loved the dolls and the pillows. My mother's brother was married to a Tea. I don't know how to do the accent over the e with my computer.
