My 2 faithful friends

Tuesday morning I had some errands to run, and then I headed from there over to the mall to do some Christmas shopping. It was a good day and I was feeling fine.

I got home about 1pm, had some lunch and returned a few phone calls. Suddenly about 2pm, and it was suddenly, I started feeling sick. It came on that fast. By 5:30 when Den got home from work I was achy and chilled. Even my fingers hurt. I knew I had a fever but didn't want to admit it. Den felt my forehead and said, "You are warm!" I didn't even want Dennis talking to me. I just wanted to go to bed.

So by 7pm I was in my jammies and in bed. Very strange for me, even when I'm sick. I stayed there and tossed and turned and could not get comfortable and feel well no matter what I did.

I did not eat anything, didn't take any fever reducers, just some water. And my 2 friends: Beta Glucan and Oscillococcinum

I started taking them as soon as I felt symptoms at 2pm.

I never could go to sleep. But around midnight I started feeling better and then by 1am I was totally well. The fever left, the chills, the achy body. It all was gone and I was fine. I slept great after that and woke up hungry.

Did I have an 11 hour flu?
Was it just a fluke?
Or did my 2 faithful friends help me like they have in the past?

I don't know.

But if it happens again, I'll reach for these same friends.

Good to know!
I'm going to make a note of this.

I'm glad whatever it was that was ailing you is gone!

I just read a weird thing in an email about putting an onion in each room of your house and how it absorbs germs! And especially if you are sick with any kind of respiratory problem, peel the onion and put it in the 'sick room' and the patient will heal quickly.
I'm going to try it, sometimes these old wives tales are better than modern science!

Sorry you were sick, but glad to see that you recover so quickly!
All the best,
Eileen

I will have to remember your "miracle cure" I live in mortal fear that I will get sick this time of year when there is so much to do...it seems you never get sick when it is convenient to go to bed...so glad you are feeling better!

I think the key is to have them on hand so you can start them as soon as you have symptoms. If I have a cold or something else coming on, that is not flu-ish feeling, then I take the beta glucan. That stuff really ups your immune system. I've cured many things with the Beta Glucan.

Also, most people are deficient of Vitamin D, especially in the winter time because we get little sun. As my friend Darlene has taught me, "If plants don't get sun, they die. If animals are kept in sheds instead of allowed to be outside, they get sick. Why would we be any different?"

In one study a Dr. John Cannell (you can google him) reports on his patients in the psychiatric hospital where he works. Because of his belief in the power of Vitamin D, he had been giving the patients on his ward 2000 IU of vitamin D for several months before the flu season hit in the winter. The flu traveled throughout his hospital and yet none of the patients under his care who had been taking vitamin D got the flu that winter.

Vitamin D is such a simple harmless thing to take each day.

Whenever I feel flu symptoms coming on I snort cayenne pepper. It helps me forget all about my flu symptoms.

This is good to know. I'll have to make note of these items. I'm glad you weren't sick for long. I only wished there were a miracle cure for the H1N1 symptoms that I'm still fighting. And tell Eileen that I received emails about the onions and I checked it out on Snopes.com (urban legends) and it is false.

That's really great to know! I'll have to go pick some up.

Thanks so much for coming by my blog and leaving such encouraging comments! Everything you say means a lot because I know you've been where I am. Really. Thank you, thank you!

I think you had the 6 hour flu and your friends prolonged it.

I'm quite a well-read person, but I've never even heard of oscillococcinum or beta glucan before! I guess I'll be checking into them now!

Glad you're feeling better!

So glad you're feeling better. Your body is geared to accept these natural remedies. They have no effect on me. I need hard drugs. But, good for you! Susan

When I first saw the title I thought you were going to talk about people. Silly me. Glad you are feeling better though. You are lucky you were only sick for a while. I had a couple of kids that were out for several days.

Thank you, grandmapeg!
Now I can just use onions for what God intended them to be used for!
All the best,
Eileen

Oh this is good to know Jill. Katie has been home sick from school since last Thursday and so I want to make sure and do whatever I can in case I feel similar symptoms coming on.
