McKay and McKenna's apartment!

Am I happy or what?!!
Dennis has been in Utah in the past 7 days, but now he is HOME!!!!!

He did lots of visiting.  His first stop was to see our Provo kids.
The Mcs gave him a tour of their apartment.  Take a look.

I love it!

Oh and look at this dinner menu that McKenna made that night:
Pork ribs
potato soup
corn on the cob
rolls
individual cakes with pudding inside
homemade icecream

And no, I am not kidding!
He said it was all SCRUMPTIOUS.

I loved seeing their apartment. There closet seemed bigger than there bedroom :) It takes me back to when I had my first apartment. I love the water heater in the kitchen! And two sinks, Wow! Thanks for the wonderful tour McKay and Dad, you did a wonderful job on video taping!

That's a pretty captivating studio apartment!

I was impressed with the storage/closet. I'm even more awestruck by the menu! That for sure doesn't remind me of my college days. Lots of Top Ramen for me.

They are such a cute couple AND HOW FUN TO BE SUCH GOOD FRIENDS WITH TYLER AND KAREN. What great memories they are making!

Thanks for sharing.

Love, Dad and Susan

Cute place! And it does use the space well. I can't believe the washer and dryer in the bathroom.

=)

Amy~ I loved the water heater in the kitchen too! It gives it such a "our first apartment" look. I hope they take pictures in front of that to show their kids someday.

Susan and Dad~ I can't even tell you how happy it makes me that the 4 of them are so close. Love it!

Sue~I've never seen a washer/dryer in the bathroom either...but what great planning of the builder.

no wasted space there! a house is made of wood and beams, a home is made with love and dreams. :) They are making great memories! and the menu sounds great too! I think we need the recipes for those cakes!

What a cute apartment!!! It certainly does have that "first apartment" look. I sure wished I would have thought to take pictures of our first and only apartment. And the menu looks like it was delicious! Tell the Mc's thanks for letting us see their apartment :-) And Dennis and McKay did a great filming and "tour guiding" :-)

Glad they are doing well. I loved how they decorated the curtain. Very festive.

Scrapally~ I agree. I think we need to get the recipe from McKenna on how to make those little individual cakes with the pudding inside. Den was telling me again last night how good they were!

Jill!
The cakes are so easy. They actually don't have pudding in them. They're just molten chocolate cakes so the chocolate inside doesn't get cooked.
Here's the recipe:
Ingredients- scant 1/2 cup butter plus a little extra for greasing, 3.5 ounces of semisweet chocolate broken into pieces, 2 large eggs, 1 tsp. vanilla, 1/2 cup super fine sugar plus extra for coating, 2 tbsp flour, powdered sugar for dusting
Directions-
1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Grease 4 x 3/4 cup ovenproof bowls or ramekins and coat with superfine sugar (I just used the ramekins that I usually use for creme brulee) Place the butter and chocolate in a heatproof bowl and set over a pan of gently simmering water until melted. Stir until smooth. Let cool.
2. Place the eggs, vanilla, superfine sugar and flour in a bowl and whisk together. Stir in the melted chocolate. Pour the mixture into the prepared molds and place on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes or until well risen and set on the outside but still molten inside.
3. Let stand for one minute, then turn out onto 4 serving. Dust with confectioner's sugar and serve immediately with vanilla ice cream.

That seems like a lot of directions but they are easier than they seem! I wish you could have been there Jill but I'm glad you can see our apartment! We miss you and can't wait for Thanksgiving!

Hahaha. Scant 1/2 cup of butter! McKenna and I could not figure out what this meant to save our lives.

I guess it wasn't that important, or we did it inadvertently.

I wish we could have seen Dennis for longer. Bummer that Tyler and I had meetings we had to go to.

Can't wait till Thanksgiving!

Thank you McKenna for the recipe!!!!

Karen~ I don't blame you for not knowing what scant means. It's an old fashioned cooking term which means not quite the amount they say. Sort of like how some say a person is 'scantily dressed'...meaning they don't have quite enough clothing on!

Jack's proud moment

Jack could hardly believe his good fortune  when they put the 4 year olds in charge of the fire!
