Have you heard of the 'no lense' look?

I hadn't. Not until last night.

See this cute girl from our church?

This is Claire, and she has been wearing these glasses for weeks, along with 2 other girls who have similar looking ones. I thought they were wearing them as a joke. Sorry Claire, but I really did think that. Even as CUTE as you look in them.

So I asked Ethel, one of the counselors, who is in her 30s. I took her aside after YW in Excellence, and whispered in her ear, "Ethel. I want to know. Some of the girls wear those really big glasses. And Claire wore them during her talk tonight. So, are those really big frames in style now?"

She answered, "YES they are."
"You mean girls wear those on purpose, not as a joke?'
"Girls really do wear them. And didn't you notice, there are no lense in them."
"You're kidding, really? Girls wear these to school? Without lense? Not just the girls in our ward?"

So now I am really curious:  Did you know about this style? Or is it just in our ward? I personally think it's really cute and harmless, now that I've adjusted to it.

Little did I know, that my oldest son Brock, was 30 years before his time.
He use to wear these oversized glasses with NO LENSE when he was 2 1/2.

I do know that having glasses is considered "cute" now. Would that I had grown up in this time. I would never have had to pay for contact lenses!

Just goes to show that styles really do come back around. Either that or Brock was really ahead of his time! Love, Dad and Susan

I've been very blessed to not need glasses -- mainly because glasses look ridiculous on me. I've been told that I look like a comic book character when I wear them (and not in a good way).

But, my best friend, Carly, pulls off the glasses look really well. But she doesn't need them either. She bought at least one pair a few years ago and would wear them around, but her glasses had clear lenses (instead of no lenses).

But I'm not too surprised at this. "Geek Chic" is kind of in style these days. Or at least, people are making it be in style.

I haven't seen any of these kinds of glasses, but I know the big frames have been coming back in style. My kids laugh when they see old pictures of me when I used to wear the big frames. Some people like your Claire look very cute in large frames! Now I'm going to have to start noticing to see if I see any of those without the lenses.

Not only was I ahead of the times, I was also very fashionable. Photo reference will reveal that I took those glasses straight off of Jackie O.'s head.

Brock~ Not sure if you know the story..but you loved those glasses and would wear them 24/7...really. Your Dad and I were worried about your vision because the cheap plastic lenses were so scratched and blurry. So one night when you were sleeping we took them off your face and popped out both lense. You never knew the difference and just kept on wearing them.

grandmapeg~ Please do report back if you see any girls wearing lenseless glasses. Maybe this hasn't reached Utah yet.

Karen~ Geek chic...love it! :)
Actually somedays the girls in our ward will wear blue tape on the frames between their eyes.

Susan~ I have to say that everyday I wait for your signature of 'Love, Dad and Susan.' Please don't even stop signing out like that. I love it!

Sue~ I know what you mean. Back in our day we all avoided glasses.

How funny! hmmm I have not seen any of the lensless glasses wearing in my new world over here. I'm going to have to keep my eye out for it now. Cracks me up. One more piece of evidence telling me how old I am. Paul and I realized the other night that Jet will be on a mission in less then 15 years. It's hard to believe how little time I have left to prepare our babies for is all...

Ktrista~ And those 15 years are going to fly by faster than you would ever believe! Take advantage of every single day. I know YOU do!

Christi~ Right. And I am learning today that nerd is in style.

I have been scanning pictures this week and I think that I wore the same kind of glasses (with lenses). How funny!

Jack's proud moment

Jack could hardly believe his good fortune  when they put the 4 year olds in charge of the fire!
