Phone message from 1993

We use to have a message machine on our phone that if we did not pick up the phone soon enough, it would tape our entire conversation.

So after you hear Tyler give the greeting message, you will hear Logan's friend Megan Grubel leaving him a message, then you will hear Brock talking to his friend Pete Maskovich.

Tyler was only about 8...and he sounds it!
When I first heard it last night, I said to Dennis,  "Oooooo that's my baby boy!"  He is 24 now!

This was 17 years ago.
May not mean anything to anyone but me the Mom, but here it is.

(remember, this was back in the day before cell phones and facebook and texting.
This was back when parents knew who was calling their kids because they had to use the family phone.)

Tyler, about the age of his 'Happy Easter message', at his grandparents' house.
Little cousin Lauren in the background looks so cold you can almost see her knees shaking!

Wow!
That's crazy. And it (obviously) sounds nothing like Tyler now.

I think that's pretty cool.

What reception was Brock at/going to?

Karen ~ I have no idea what reception he went to. Maybe Brock knows, but I doubt it. I mean, who invites teenage boys to their wedding reception?? Pete obviously went too.

I love it when we find unexpected treasures like that from the past! Who would have known that a bit of taped phone conversation like that would be appreciated all these years later.

You are AMAZING at what you're able to resurrect from the past! First, your drawers, and now your very old phones?

You're the epitome of Blast From The Past!!! It's not only extraordinary, but fun too.

Love, Dad and Susan

This was too cute. I love that picture of Lauren with her hair sticking out.

I remember that sweater Tyler is wearing. Bugle Boy? Did he wear it for school pictures one year? I can't believe I remember when he sounded like that. And Megan Grubel! What a blast from the past.

Heidi~ Is that sweater Tyler is wearing use to be Bret's? Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I can picture it on Bret too.

What gets me is this was 17 YEARS AGO. It seems like about 2 years ago. But then it was your childhood Heidi, so it probably seems much longer ago to you.

Karen~ I love Lauren's hair like that too! Those 2 little pixie pony tails sticking straight up!

Darlene~ I know, as life is happening we just don't realize it's the little things that will mean the most later on.

Susan~ As you can tell, I have been doing lots of cleaning lately. :)

Wow! I can't believe all of the wonderful things you are finding! Isn't it wonderful that you get to put these onto your blog now?
Tyler was such a cute kid! Can't wait to see the kids he and Karen will have! (I can say that, right?) :)

Jill, I was definitely thinking that sweater used to be Brett's, but I wasn't sure, so I didn't say anything at first! I think you are right.

Your house must be an archive!!! You sure do find a lot of things from your past! I love how teenage boys keep their phone conversations so short and right to the point!! Thanks for sharing!!

I know what you mean Peggy...males DO have a different way of communicating.

Heidi~ I'm glad I actually remembered right about that shirt! Maybe you could show that picture to your Mom and see if she recognizes it. We certainly do share history.

Mar~ Sure you can talk about Tyler and Karen's children! They exist, they just haven't been born yet.

What a treasure! I wish I had recordings of my children's young voices. How I would love to hear them again.

Jack's proud moment

Jack could hardly believe his good fortune  when they put the 4 year olds in charge of the fire!
