1 in 65,000

Often, when there is BYU football on TV, Dennis will look intently into the crowd for my sons, McKay and Tyler...who often attend the games. He will sometimes call the boys during the game and ask where they are sitting. I guess it's all part of the male bonding. I will often say to him, "Well if McKay and Tyler show up on that screen, come and get me." But with 65,000 in the audience I didn't ever expect that to happen.

So last Saturday, you guessed it. Den was watching BYU play UNLV with his friend Mondel. I was in the laundry room folding clothes, when I heard Den shouting, "HURRY JILL, COME QUICK." I ran in there to find McKay right there in the center of the screen. He looked good. He looks happy. Does my heart good!

We were so excited. Dennis reached for the phone to call McKay, but he stopped himself, "I can't call him! I don't want to know who wins." Den was watching it on delay being we had been gone all morning. (He also takes no Utah calls during the game if he is watching on delay:)

So I went in the other room and called McKay myself. He gave me the ending score but luckily for Dennis I immediately forgot what it was.

His face shows at the mark of 27 seconds, and just on there for 4 seconds, so pay attention :)

No way!!! That is so cool! I can just picture dad getting all excited about that! That was awesome and even better was that you were able to get a clip of this to post here! How many times have you replayed this clip, Jill? :)I've already watched it a couple of times because I think it's so cute of him clapping and having a good time.

This is great. That must be fun to see someone you know on TV.
No affence, but what happened to Emily?

That game was a lot of fun. There are a few problems with this video though.

Riddle me this...

1) I wasn't wearing that shirt to that game
2) I usually go to the game with the same people but I don't recognize anybody around me
3) UNLV makes a pretty good punt return and then it shows a clip of us BYU fans cheering

I know I've been known to be forgetful but kind of weird huh?

I don't know that that is McKay. His nose looks funny. This is clearly an imposter trying to make McKay look like a UNLV fan.

This is so funny! Once I went to the Utah Jazz basketball game, and they put ME on the JumboTron, that big screen everyone can see, they kept me on there for a long time. How embarrassing! For months after that I had people come up to me and say they saw me on the JumboTron. I am not one to like the spotlight, it was a bit embarrassing!

Well that is most definitely you McKay on that video. This was a fuzzy copy but the original on our TV was very clear. Even Mondel recognized you! Now though I'm wondering if they took a clip from a game a long ways back and put it on this game.....like maybe when you first got to BYU 3 years ago, and you don't even remember those friends anymore?

So funny Jill.

I didn't think that was Mckay. It didn't look like him to me. I agree with Tyler. And Mckay said he wasn't even sitting with those people or wearing that shirt. Kind of weird.

AMY...Well if you saw it on our TV...we will show you next time you come over, you will KNOW it is McKay. BTW...was Logan driving his scooter down Armstrong yesterday about 1:00? I think I saw him and I was trying to follow him but I had a dental appt I had to get to.

Come on...how often does McKay know what shirt he's wearing or who he's with?

No, it wasn't Logan riding. He rode his scooter yesturday but he rode from 7 am til 11 am. It must of been someone else. I will have to see it on your T.V. because I am still not convinced it's Mckay. It looks kind of like him but Im thinking it's a look a like. Mckay, what do you think?

This discussion reminds me of the day McKay was born. After they cleaned him up and brought him to me...with fuzzy full black hair and dark skin, I told the nurse maybe they made a mistake...he didn't look like the baby I just gave birth to. She checked our bracelets and assured me that he was mine. I noticed that he did indeed have the same cheek bones as his brothers so I decided to quit worrying. Then my dad came that night, looked at him and said, "You know Jill, he doesn't look like your baby. Sometimes they make mistakes in hospitals." Thank fully by then, I KNEW he was mine.
Just like I know he is mine in this BYU TV clip!

Uh oh, Amy, what's the ouch about? Did you think I am upset? I'm not:) I just think this is so funny!

YES! Somthing ELSE to think about! I love this mystery! I'm going to think about it non-stop until after Wednesday is OVER. Let's interview McKay's friends who went to the game with him. Put a reward out for clues. Keep it up! Love, Susan and Dad

What if BYU football is showing old footage of the audience...can you imagine what could happen if someone says they were not at the game, but their face shows up on TV??

Logan and Amy said...

I am not upset at all. I just thought a Mom does know best. I would love to see it on your T.V. It doesn't come in quite clear on my computer :)

Nate thought he saw McKay too...but I was in the bathroom and missed it. I'll give you my final verdict after I watch the clip.

Ok so I watched the clip and it's too fuzzy to tell for sure...it definitely looks a lot like him, but there's something that's off. I'm ot convinced, but that's just me.

Grandma Honey said...

Julie, did you watch the clip on this blog or the one on the TV? The TV was so much clearer. And on TV I could tell he had on McKay's shirt...just not the one he claims to have worn last Saturday. Knowing McKay as you do, would you say he always knows what shirts he wears on any given day? (McKay, I mean this with all the love in my heart :)

I am so offended! All this talk about McKay being in this clip is really getting to me. While all of you are debating whether that was him or not, you didn't even notice that I was standing right next to him at that game in the same clip. I feel so left out and ignored. I'm a huge UNLV fan and Mckay promised me he would root for my team that day so as to not embarrassed me.
