This was interesting!! One of the books during the month of my birth was Anne Frank: the Diary of a Young Girl. I'm not sure my mom got too much time to read since I was the last of 9 children...14 years and under! You find the most interesting things to put on your blog!! Thanks!
My grandmother gave me The Diary of Anne Frank and told me all about it. So I read it with her. I think I was about 11, but it made a huge impression on my life.
I looked at my list and I had never heard of ANY of the books, and only 2 authors...one of which was Mark Twain, but it wasn't a book I'd hear of. Fun stuff! Where do you come up with it all?
Scrapally~ I just got it on another blog. I rarely find my own stuff. :)
If I were really an ambitious reader I would be tempted to investigate some of these books...especially the older ones. I think there are probably many hidden treasures on those lists. I also think there are probably some raunchy ones.
Catcher in the Rye was one of the books that would have been on the list for the year I was born. Interestingly enough, my mother wouldn't let me read it because of all the curse words. I love the photo of your mom...so sweet and so young!
Wow, Jill, you look a lot like your mom, she's so pretty! That was fun to look up, some of the books looked really interesting, like #9 on the non-fiction list: Motherhood, The Second Oldest Profession. I wonder what the author considered the First Oldest Profession to be?
Oh, again, I clicked on the link earlier and didn't come back here to comment until now. Sorry.
This is so interesting, I'd like to get some of the books on my list. And I wonder if my Mom read 'The Robe', I know she loved the movie! Great post! Love and Prayers, Eileen

What an interesting thing! Maybe she read My Cousin Rachel by Daphne DuMaurier.
Wouldn't be surprised!

Sue and I are about the same age or else My Cousin Rachel was a bestseller for a long time...

Oh and one more thing Scrapally~~ I don't recognize any of the books the year I was born either. I think it's because we weren't reading yet!
Totally off subject, but I love this picture of your mom. She was so pretty.
This is so fun! I want to get some of the books from this list and read them! Thanks!
