So yesterday before seeing The Last Song, we stopped at Subway to pick up 2 sandwiches to go with our bottled water. We like to sit on the very top seats at the theater and eat our dinner.
It would have been rude to take pictures, but the guy making our sandwiches did not look very well. Glassy eyes, flushed face, and not very happy. He was wearing gloves, but still, sort of gave me the creeps that he was the one making our food.
If Dennis had not been with me I would have told the sandwich maker he didn't look well and needed to go home. But that sort of thing really embarrasses Den, so I kept quiet. (Den thanked me later)
So as soon as we get out of there I ask Den to take me to the next Subway. He says, "All the people in Subway look like that." I told him that no, I didn't think so. Please keep driving.
He waited in the car while I hurried in and had the next Subway make me a quick sandwich. again. Den insisted the one made by the sick guy, was good enough for him.
So here's my question, and I really want to know.
If someone looking ill was making your sandwich what would you have done?
And don't worry.
You aren't settling any kind of argument between me and my husband.
We don't argue, and besides, he loves me just the way I am.
Amazing, I know.

The two of you are so cute together! One's ying and one's yang. You compliment each other and are a perfect match!
I've never had that happen so I don't know what I'd do. I have complained about stale bread on my next trip to Subway, but that's not the same thing you're describing.
An admirer of Jill and Dennis.
I have never had that happen but I think I would have done the same thing Jill. I wouldn't have eaten it either. Hope Dennis doesn't get sick.
I would have eaten it without hesitation. Actually I would probably be more eager to eat it considering his funk would only make me stronger.
Logan
I've gotten so paranoid about people passing germs even when they aren't sick that definitely I wouldn't have eaten something fixed by a sick looking person. Craig on the other hand would be like Dennis and eat it anyways.
Are you kidding me?! I would never have eaten it. I'm feeling ill just thinking about it...maybe Jill and I are related
umm... sounds more like he was stoned than sick to me. and from my experience of people who work at subway, it's a common thing!
don't worry too much over it -- just remember that most fast food places you can't see your food being prepared or who is preparing it. you have to accept that you put your body in a certain amount of danger, haha ;)
I agree with Belle - usually you don't know who is preparing your food. And I also think he was stoned. But still I don't think I'd want to eat it.
I wouldn't have eaten it; that's for sure!
=)
PS. I agree that he was probably on some kind of drugs, but you can't be too careful. And who wants to get sick when you can prevent it so easily by not eating what he made?
I wouldn't care either way, you said he had gloves on. I'm with Logan. I did see the movie and I'm with you Jill, I think the Father played by Greg Kineer reminded me alot of my friend Vern Woolley. For that matter I had just stopped by to see him to wish him a Happy Birthday on the 13th of this month, and I think it's his kind nature and easy way about him that is similar. I have never had the chance to meet your DIL Amy but from what Vern and Cindy say she is a wonderful charming woman. Bobby
Hey Jill - thats a great photo of the sandwich. I think I would just eat l/2 of it and then share it with Susan. I figure we will both be fine, or?
Dad
Welcome to my blog Bobby...how do you know Verne? I've known him for 34 years, before Amy was even born.
DAD...I figure you would eat it! :))
You have me beat, I mainly knew his wife Cindy. Then they started inviting me over for there famous Sunday Dinners. No one can turn those down. What a nice family. Ive known him for prob about 10 years. Bobby
So Bobby how did you find my blog? And I agree, Amy is a very wonderful person.
I checked to see if your email add is listed so I could email you. Long story short. I went from one of my wifes blogs to one of her friends friends blog. That friend had not 1 but 3 Grandma Blog, paydirt. You see I was doing a paper on the most important person to me my Grandma. But I wanted to add other persons experiences as well. One interesting fact I found about you is that you do not like to fly. Or so it seems. B
As long as he wasn't coughing and sneezing, and was wearing gloves, I wouldn't mind.
Some people just look sickly, but actually aren't sick.
Jill, I had the same thing happen to me when Luke and I were first married at a Quiznos. He was really greasy looking and didn't look like he was taking very good care of himself and didn't USE GLOVES. Luke ate his sandwhich, I couldn't. I went home hungry, it was just too disgusting. I am always aware of the people that make my food...and Luke is embarrassed by my fuss...ah, well!
I'm finally back online....would love to create a blog of my own for my music projects. Whew it seems like a lot of work to keep the blog up to date. Thanks for letting me gather some great ideas from your blog! B
If I honestly thought the guy that was making my sandwich was sick...I would have looked at him and said, "Gee..I changed my mind, I'm not really hungry for a sandwich. Sorry." And turned around & left. He would have been glad because if he was sick, he didn't want to make me one anyways! LOL!
Den could be right. Lots of people who smoke pot look like that. LOL!
Here's my question? DID HE GET SICK after eating that sandwich because if he did...then you know to stay away from sandwich makers who look sick, right?????
I was going to answer that no, he didn't get sick, he's just fine. But then I remembered he has been miserable all day with "allergies"....wonder if he's really sick instead... It takes 3-5 days to get a cold after exposure...so maybe that's what he has. I guess time will tell.
