Leave It To Beaver

No, this is not an old picture from last month.
Elora came to stay with me yesterday while her little sister had therapy. She focused on this gingerbread house for 1 1/2 hours. Made no difference to her that the 'party is over'.

She was very intent, talking to me as she worked.
"I was so humiliated by my parents. I wanted to come to dinner at your house last night. I wanted to, but my parents said I couldn't invite myself. They said I could call you but you had to invite me, I couldn't ask."

So I'm still thinking about the word, 'humiliated'. She loves to try out new words, but sometimes she doesn't get the meaning quite right at first. She is only 6. But where did that come from? Who even uses that word??

After the gingerbread house I got out my Leave it to Beaver DVD.
That show was such a part of my childhood, and I also enjoyed it with my sons. Elora and I watched the episode about a little 4 year old Beaver was tending, who got accidentally locked in the bathroom. She loved it.

While on the subject of Leave it to Beaver, look what I found last night:

Elora looks so intent on making the gingerbread house and I love the way she likes to try adult words! I grew up on Leave it to Beaver and wouldn't miss an episode for anything! I love the bloopers!

This was a cute post. I remember watching Leaave it to Beaver as a kid. A few years ago, I saw him at a book signing. He looked about the same. I love Elora and her words. It reminds me of Davey. He would do that too.

Oh that's right Karen....I DO remember Davey trying out all those big words when he was little. I had forgotten about that.

I think Elora and Hailey came out of the same barrel! (That's Wendy speak for they must be related.)

Hailey and Elora are definitely related. Their hair color alone is so unique and so identical. They both have that determined spunk about them too!
