Quotes from my journal

I taught a lesson last Sunday about journals.  So naturally I got mine all out to review over the past week.  Here are some of my favorite quotes.  Obviously they are all my favorites or I wouldn't have put them in my journal.

"If it's fair, it's not a true trial."
Neal A. Maxwell

"Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out."
(not sure who said this but I like it!)

"If you throw dirt, you lose ground."
Wendy Rozier (not sure if this is hers, but she's the one who told me)

"We don't see things as they are.  We see things as we are."
Anais Nin

"We must have the courage to allow a little disorder in our lives."
Ben Weininger

"It isn't the great big pleasures that count the most.
It's making a great deal out of the little ones."
Jean Webster

"The spirit always accompanies righteous endeavors."
Julie Beck

"Service is the rent we pay for living. It is not something to do in your spare time,
it is the very purpose of life."
Marian Wright Eastman

Do any of these speak to you?

I just read the quote by Neal Maxwell in the last day or two. I like that one but I really like the last quote about service. I believe that we are here to give service. Great quotes! Thanks for sharing.

I love the 2nd one. Great advice. I don't like the one about bringing in disorder. I hate disorder.

One I go to often is:

Gordon B. Hinckley, "Put Your Trust in God," Ensign, Feb 2006, 63

It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is.
It all works out. Don't worry.
I say that to myself every morning.
It will all work out.
Put your trust in God,
and move forward with faith
and confidence in the future.
The Lord will not forsake us.
He will not forsake us.
If we will put our trust in Him,
if we will pray to Him,
if we will live worthy of His blessings,
He will hear our prayers.

I love these! Here is my favorite"

The past is behind, learn from it.
The future is ahead, prepare for it.
The present is here, live it.
(Thomas S. Monson)

Also I love:
"Things will work out, they usually do."
(Gordon B. Hinckley)

Jill, I need to get with you. I'm pretty sure I've met "the one"!

Yup....every single one of 'em ring true to me! I like the one about disorder because that is how my life is so if it's ok, well then I guess I'm not such a horrible human being.

LOVE that you put all your favorite quotes in your journal. Anna was telling me yesterday about how AWESOME your lesson was and that you always do such an inspirational & incredible job teaching principles to the girls. Too bad I missed out!

I'm so glad Aunt Jill has this blog to bring out Uncle Richard's witty side I never knew existed. :)

I love the "throwing dirt" quote. It seems people just chip away at others until there is nothing left for them to stand on.

I also like, "If you like it than you shoulda put a ring on it." Sorry. Gigi is obsessed with The Chipettes version and it is running through my head constantly. Make it stop.

Of course Logan. Probably why you got "most easy going in the class" award in 6th grade.

"Life is rife with strife. Adjust or bust." This is a quote from Virginia Call (my mom).

The ones in your blog sound so sweet and spiritual. My mom was a no nonsense type of person!

They all speak to me, but this one in particular does:

We don't see things as they are. We see things as we are." -Anais Nin
