April 1965, pregnant with twins.
I can still picture the yellow fabric for this dress spread over our kitchen table as she was making it. She did not know she was carrying twins until she was in the hospital and in labor. A nurse finally picked up 2 heart beats.
Such a contrast from Amy's twins...her twins were discovered through ultrasound when she was less than a month pregnant!
Also the dress, notice it is not form fitting. No, not at all back then.
So here we are in June 1956...she is 6 months pregnant with my brother John.
Mom looks like she needs a nap.
This probably looks very normal but it's not. I don't think anyone else would wear a pullover sweater while pregnant back then. I remember even in 1977 when I was pregnant with my first...I wore a pull over sweater, and I was not that far along, but still, people made comments, or they would look at me funny. Like I shouldn't be wearing "regular" clothes while pregnant! The sweater in this picture probably belonged to my Dad. She was practical, always.
Oh, and that's my Aunt Hegge on the blanket with us. She always dressed and looked like a movie star to me.
here she is pregnant for the first time.

I like the picture of your mom in the kitchen. I think we had that same refrigerator!
I think we all had that same fridge back in the '50s! I loved this. Maybe this summer I'll do a similar blog of my mom's pregnancies. I loved being pregnant and I just think pregnant women are so beautiful.
Those are classics JIll! Your mom sure carried a lot of babies, huh? She's beautiful and there's something very nostalgic about seeing classic old photographs.
Nice Entry. You sure had a FULL house growing up didn't you? I only had one brother 5 years older & used to dream of what it would be like to live with brothers & sisters. You're mom understood the value of family and I LOVE that!
I can't believe how much you look like your mom...especially in the eyes!! I love all of these pictures...they are just so fun! And I think we had that same brand of fridge when I was growing up. That kitchen sure does look like I Love Lucy's.
Hardly anyone anywhere ever says I look like my Mom. I could probably count on one hand how many times that has happened in my lifetime. Interesting that you see that Peggy. Thank you.
I love these pictures of your mom. She is so beautiful. I love the first picture. She looks so elegant. I really love the Lucy picture. That is amazing how much that looks like that kitchen. Your mom reminds me of my mom's high school picture. My mom's hair was that same way. Of course thanks for showing her pregnant with Robin. You know how I love Robin. She is awesome. Anyway, thanks for showing these. They are really nice.
By the way, I have never thought about you looking like your mom, but you do. Especially in the picture when she is pregnant with Robin.
I've never really thought you looked like you mom until these photos. It's great that you have so many photos to remember her by. I had never seen the photo of my mom, with your mom and you. She looks so much like my Brookie in this picture. Amazing. Thanks for sharing.
These "old" pictures are classics Jill. I love being able to peek into the "before" of this family. Thanks for sharing. Love, Dad and Susan
Those are some great pictures Jill!
I LOVED these pictures. It isn't very often that you see pregnant women in movies or pictures back then. I have looked in my family albums to see "pregnant" pictures. I love the bottom "barefoot and pregnant" picture.
