I don't think it is just wishful thinking...I see some of Elora in this picture...at least from the pictures that I've seen of Elora. I just love seeing these pictures from your childhood!
Yes! Elora is definitely in that face! So cute. And I love the dress. Remember those crinkly slips under the dresses? Love the post. Love, Dad and Susan
Thank you for all the comments. It's a relief to know it is not just me. I was a little fearful of putting this out here because what if you all said, "Oh no, you look nothing like Elora."
MARY...maybe your grandparents lived near the house I grew up until age 7. Do you remember where it was? Our house was just south of Belmont, off Cedar. 4476 E. Madison
I have always thought Elora looks alot like you. If you had a daughter I imagine she would look like Elora.I love the dress but is it the way you are standing or is it the hem that's uneven? I forgot to comment on the dance. It was too loud and far too smokey. I was in the building having activity days with my 8 girls. When I walked out into the hall I could hardly breath, how in the world did you last 15 minutes inside the dance? I'm glad you are feeling better. Peggy Sue
Peggy...Well I paid a price for that 15 minutes...that horrible ear pain lasted 27 hours...until I got a blessing. And I don't know why they brought that smoke machine in. I've been to many youth dances and I have quite loved them all except this one.
I wondered about the hem in the dress too. Well she did say it was the first dress she ever made for me, and since I was her first girl, maybe it was the first dress ever for her. Or could it be that stiff fluffy slip underneath? In Susan's comment she reminded me about those slips we use to wear. Not sure if you ever had a slip like that being you were 7 years younger than me...maybe they were out of style by the time you came along.
I wish those slips would come back into style--I love them. I think it is so cute that you were worried other people would think your resemblance to Elora is wishful thinking--she looks so much like you it is undeniable. I can't wait to see who Amy's twins looks like!
The first thing I thought when I saw your picture was"Wow, Elora looks just like her Grandma Honey"! These pictures are so darling. You are so adorable! Thanks for sharing these pictures with us. Amy
You SURE are CUTE! Cute as a button! And I thought your honestly about what others would say regarding the similarities (or lack of) was funny. You always make me chuckle Grandma Honey!
I love that your mom included that tidbit of IMPORTANT info. Your first dress made by her! It looks absolutely adorable and well done I might add. TOO PRECIOUS. I concur with all the others. Similarities between you & Elora are very striking and that means she's going to be BEAUTIFUL when she's a GRANDMA! Whoo Hoo!!!
Jill my husband who is also a DJ has been told many times over that smoke machines are not allowed inside the church buildings. Not for any type of dance and he does them in the local churches here several times a month. You may want to have someone check with your leaders to see if the rules are different in California or something, but I don't think they should be in the church buildings.
Well I wonder if it was a fog machine...or is that the same as a smoke machine? I left before that got going strong so I really don't know what it was.
I see mom curled your hair AND put in a bow AND made you a dress. Funny how things change when you get to the 4th child, but then I probably kept her a little busier than you did.
I think you look like Logan with a better haircut. I remember that day. Mom sewed me a tuxedo to go with your new dress. She had to rent John and Robin out to work in the cotton fields to pay for the material, but it was well worth it!

This is too cute Jill. You look adorable. Yes, I see Elora in there.
What a sweet picture! The house reminds me of my Grandpa and Grandma Butler's house in Fresno when I was a kid.
I agree with everyone else--there is a very strong resemblance. Elora definitely has a healthy dose of your genes!

Robin
fog machine is just another name for a smoke machine.

No, I agree, it's not just wishful thinking. Elora is definately present in your face!
