Pandemic style Halloween

Oh Halloween....

We couldn't open our doors to the neighborhood littles....but I ordered some candy anyway from Walmart.

I got this notice from our shopper

I guess he thought I was joking. I wasn't.

So Den made up about 40 trick or treat bags and we put them out in front of our house on a cardboard table.

He made a sign that I rescued from the trash this morning.

(His sign could have been mistaken for a political announcement, so I added the Happy Halloween part.)

Then we had this idea, hey, let's go shopping at Trader Joes because who shops on Halloween. We nearly had the place to ourselves!

As we were pulling back home into our driveway, and had just clicked the button in the car to bring down the garage door, we heard a man's voice yell, "Thank you!"

The garage door kept going down and we heard it again only louder, "Thank you!" So Den said, "You're Welcome!" back to that faceless polite person.

We loved it. Just that simple little word, "Thank you"...obviously came from one of the Dad's of the littles.

So there were some definite perks to yesterday.

And these pictures to me, were the biggest perks of all.

Our Meridian grands having a home party.

Rich, Leo, Juliet, and Daisy

The Clovis grands also celebrating.
Violet got to go door to door at home.

And then in Billings: Annie, Scarlett, Grant, and baby Jack.

Each year our Halloween pictures get more sparse as our grands grow older.

So I suppose the costumes have ended for the twins this year, but I did get a picture of their first day of 'in person' school this week...

Gone also are the days that Jonas and Tea were the same size.

Life has a way of moving on, pandemic or not.

I enjoy reading about your thoughtful, creative ideas to celebrate holidays. Did you get many visitors to your candy stand? Pictures of the grandkids are always a delight, too. Such neat costumes. pjc

Thank you Pam for your kind thoughts. 39 of the 40 treat bags were gone by 7pm. I brought the last one in so Den could eat it.

Fun idea for giving out your treats! I wore my mask and gloves to hand out treats but we didn't get a lot of kiddos. I really missed having our family Halloween party, but each family showed up separately dressed in their costumes so that I could take their picture and of course for treats! Thanks for sharing your pictures of your grandchildren!

Look what happened last night

Just a little pre-graduating gathering for our DIL Amy.... Not everyday a Mom of 7 and a Grandma of 7, graduates from college. It was not ...
