Just a dinner at Mom and Dad's house 22 years ago.

Sometimes, you just want to see your parents.

I didn't even know I had this until a few days ago.

I took out very little, so if you want to skip me rudely on the phone
during dinner, just fast forward to 2:15.

I don't know what was going on with Peggy that day at Costco,
but I gather from the call, we were worried about her.

I sure miss them.

I love too many things about this video to even list them all! Did you your mom say she canned 115 cans of peaches? Or pears? I don’t remember but either way that is incredible! Canning is hard work! I love getting to see what she was like. And Jill, my goodness you are exactly the same! I loved seeing you! And of course, McKay is the greatest human ever to live. I laughed all the way through seeing him! He is the best. I watched it with Grant and I asked him who McKay was in the video to see if he would say Dad but instead he said, “that’s Grant”

Thank you for all your kind words McKenna. I love that video because I got to see my parents. 4 years later my Mom got Alzheimer's and she changed so much that I had sort of forgotten what she was like before all that happened. Sounds like Grant sees himself in his Dad. I love that! And those 115 cans of carrots....she didn't have to cook them. She would bring home the canning machine from the church storehouse and can dehydrated produce for the ward. She was a hard worker! But she also knew how to crash with her leg draped over top of the couch, eating her chocolate and reading her magazines or watching The Waltons or old movies.

I loved this, Jill! Pretty sweet teenagers, I must say! It's good to see movies of our parents in their younger days. Sometimes my parents are stuck in my memories after they had declined so much that they were almost unrecognizable. Thank goodness for video cameras!

Oh my goodness, Jill, this was such a bright spot in my day. Thank you for sharing! I have so many happy memories around that table and it was so fun to be reminded of them. So wonderful to see grandpa and grandma exactly the way I remember them!

Thanks so much for posting! Mom and dad are about the same age in that video that I am today!! They look so good. And I agree with McKenna, McKay is the greatest ever and a video star!

I love this so much! I loved seeing Grandma and Grandpa and the old house and kitchen. So many memories! Tyler sounds so much like Richie in that video, it's crazy.

I’m with McKenna. Too many good things about this. I was surprised to find I was the one behind the camera! I hardly remember Grandpa saying much because, like the early part of the video, he was usually content to sit and listen. At least, that’s how I remember him. So this was really neat to see him just having fun. Love this video! I think we all hope you magically find more of these!

Hey, I remember that kitchen from when we went there for dinner. I also remember how you couldn't believe that your mom and dad had me sit in your spot :) That is exactly how I remember your parents. They were so nice to me. I got a kick out of McKay. He is our Nick...always hamming it up in front of the camera!! Thank you for sharing this video! I love it!!

Love this Jill and Tyler! Didn't realize that McKay was such a ham back then...! This brings back so many memories of both our parents and our dining room table. I think I've finally stopped dreaming about our old house on Fairmont, but this brings a lot of it back....

Seems funny that mom was so concerned with finding a good mechanic for me, when Peggy was the one stranded at Costco! Many years later I did end up going to Charlie per Robin's suggestion I think...

I must have missed that Heidi...I didn't hear her talking about you. I thought she said she was looking for one for herself.

It's funny to me now that Mom kept her cleaning supplies right there by the table. Growing up I didn't think twice about it, but now it seems so... unusual.

We used Charlie the mechanic, too. He was fast, fair, and very efficient. One morning I dropped a car off to be fixed. Less than 15 minutes later I called him with some additional instructions. The call went something like this,
“Hey Charlie, I just dropped my car off and wanted...”
Charlie very brusquely, “What your name?!”
“Richard Rozier, and I just wanted...”
Charlie again, with emphasis, “NOT READY YET!”

I'm not sure if Charlie speaks English very well..

I've watched this video at least 5 times! I think I've figured out where McKay gets his hamminess from..

Actually Heidi, McKay was just being goofy that evening. Normally he did not do things like that. Not that anything was wrong with it but it's just not his personality. He and Tyler were usually in their own little world...so I think he was doing that for Tyler not the camera.

Look what happened last night

Just a little pre-graduating gathering for our DIL Amy.... Not everyday a Mom of 7 and a Grandma of 7, graduates from college. It was not ...
