Book Clubs 2015

So here are the books we will be reading, for both clubs.

(I finished reading The Walk last week, and I really enjoyed it.
I wasn't expecting to. It just didn't sound all that good.
Even the title sounds boring. But it wasn't. )

Have you read any of these books? What did you think?

Somewhere Safe with Somebody Good was, of course, excellent! Jan Karon is one of my favorite authors! I think you get more out of her books, though, if you read them in order. The stories would have more meaning if you know the back-story.

I had never heard of that book or the author. I will look into the series. Thanks Darlene.

I agree, I just read "Somewhere Safe...." but I have read all the Jan Karon books in this series and I feel like you would not know what was going on if you just jumped in here with this book. But I love this series, it is one of my favorites!

Thank you for the lists. I did get one of them in my email. :) I have read some of those books and look forward to more of them. I just found all but the last of the Walk series at DI so was going to start them soon. I hope you like the Quilter's apprentice...that has become one of my favorite series! Can't wait to hear your review on ALL of the books.

I've read all of The Walk series by Evans. It's 4 books long. It is really though provoking. I liked it a lot. Weird for a book club, it's longer and more fictional...but I really liked them. Interesting lists, thanks! :)

Thanks Natalie….you have me convinced. I LOVED The Walk but kept trying to decide whether or not I should continue on with the other 3….wondering if they could possibly measure up to the original one. Normally I don't get much into fiction but The Walk seemed SO REAL. I like the thought provoking part of the book the best. Den is reading book one right now and he is following along with google maps and really enjoying it.

I'm reading Fascinating Womanhood for the second time in 3 months for my book club meeting in February. I would love to pick your brain about it sometime- I hear it was your bible for years. :)

As I recall, Mrs. Kehler thought for a time about putting on "The Importance of Being Earnest". I think she thought I would make a good Algernon. It's a funny play.

Tyler….I thought The Importance of Being Ernest sounded familiar….perhaps I remember you talking about it back then.

Carly…I read that book back in the 1970s and it helped me to understand men….which was a good thing being I gave birth to 4 of them later. I wonder what it would be like to go back and read it again after all these years. Your Mom was telling me there is an updated modern version now. If I can remember, I'd like to suggest it to our book club for next year. It would surely make for a great discussion.

Natalie…Den and I were at Barnes and Noble last night and discovered there is a FIFTH book to The Walk series that came out in 2014. I'm on book 2, as of last night, and I'm loving it! To me it's even better than book 1.

Look what happened last night
