Cause and effect

He had been saying his back hurts, but I couldn't figure out why.
It hasn't hurt much since he gave up gluten last Spring.

So what was going on?

Then I remembered how he has been going to Lowes A LOT lately, like every 2-3 hours.
And I remember him saying something about a project he needed to do outside.

But I was involved in my coughing and staying by the the vaporizer.
And I wasn't listening very well last week.

Finally I decided the house was way too quiet one day and I went outside looking for Dennis
to make sure he was okay.

This is what I saw….He was digging trenches. Even removing a section of the fence.

Something about how we need new drains in the yard.

He did this all himself.
I think the back pain mystery is pretty much solved.

Now the rain has started in our record breaking drought.
Gotta get those tunnels covered up.

What is it about men and their projects?
It makes them so happy…in a quiet tuned out sort of way.

OH my I am sorry to laugh but this really makes me laugh! (Not laughing at the back ache) but laughing because this reminds me of MY husband!!!!! The scary thing is when they get out the ladder and you see them on the roof! I have decided John isn't happy unless he has a "Project". I keep telling him that if he is bored I can find a project for him, I have plenty, but he likes his own projects! Things I don't think really need to be done......go figure!

Oh I hear you about the roof. Den has been on there many times and I always tell him, "Do you realize our lives could change instantly by doing that?"

Wow! That is one big project Dennis has done...by himself!! Why didn't he call Brock and Logan to come help? I guess I know the answer...he is like Craig in that he thinks he will just do it by himself and not bother the boys.

Yep, you know the answer :)

I remember when Brian undertook this exact same project a few years ago. It was a doozy! Brian and I have already reached an agreement that he will never go on the roof for any reason whatsoever. It is the one job he has agreed to hire out since it is not worth the risk. We've both heard too many awful stories.

When I hear project I think of making a soufflé or something like that...

Since you've been sick, and have had to stay inside, he probably needed something to occupy his mind and keep him busy outside, but not too far away from you. Steve did that too when I was laid up.

I, too, found this post humorous and very interesting. Here in the country, we have ground moles tear up our lawns! I just can't get over all the work Dennis is doing while wearing what appears to be good clothing. The job looks professional. What a guy!

No wonder his back hurts! What a job!

My husband tends to wait 'til I say he MUST get on a job of some sort. (And it usually takes ME helping to get it going.)

Dave does exactly the same thing…digs in the yard all the time for one reason or another…and gets the same results.

Gotta love him.
