Challenges and Joys

Yes, that's Austin back with us.
He needed to come home from his mission this week
so he could get medical treatment.

See that look of shock over Austin's face?
I just so happened to have my camera on him
when he noticed our remodeled kitchen for the first time.
I guess it looked pretty bad when he left.

We had stake conference today and so we kept our tradition
of having lunch afterwards.
Chicken salad sandwiches, fluffy fruit, strawberries, Lime chips, baked beans, Chinese Chicken Salad, Mom's fruit punch
(just putting it here so when I'm asking myself: Now what did I serve last time?)

While I was cleaning the kitchen today after lunch our sweet
Violet wrapped her arms around my legs
and said, "I want to hug you Grandma Honey."

Things got a little crazy around here after we all ate.
But that's okay….

That's what cousins are suppose to do when they get together.

However, just as I was coming out of the kitchen I noticed
everyone was leaving….like all of a sudden.
So I said, "Hey, uh, you're all leaving now??"

I just thought it odd since they don't usually leave in unison.

That's when Amy said, "We were kicked out."
I thought, no way, and said,  "No you weren't. By who?
"By Dad. He told us all to go home."
"I'm sure he didn't mean that….what did he say?"
"He waved his arms towards the door and said, "Okay, time to go!"

This was so out of character for Dennis that it made me laugh!

A few minutes later Grandma Honey and Grandpa were fast asleep.  :)

Ha! I feel like that sometimes, too, when the whole family is visiting and it's been a long day!

Ammy…Sorry but I have no recipe for that. It's just Costco's kit and then I add fresh lettuce. The kids always like it and there is never any leftover. Actually I didn't even plan this lunch until 9pm Saturday night. It was a busy weekend and just didn't get around to making anything. So I suddenly just went through the freezer, fridge and pantry looking for things to put together. …plus a quick run to Savemart 9:30 Saturday night.

Good for Dennis! He did what I usually want to do when all my kids are here! Maybe I will get brave and do it next time......

The look on Austin's face is so perfect. I love it.

And speaking of perfect, I LOVE that picture of sweet Violet. She sure is a cutie.

What a priceless precious post! Tradition, family, & memories for a lifetime! Love the sudden closure! One time Jerry invited thes strangers to our home for dinner on top of 32 others & after I put the food out, I went to bed. I didn't even socialize or anything....sometimes when you're done, you're done.

It's been such a long time since I have been able to check your blog! I feel as if I have been missing my friend! My thoughts have been with Austin for many weeks now. In fact, as I found the time to get on the computer today, I planned to come to your blog first and see if you had an update on your missionary. I'm sorry to hear he has not been well. Will he be able to return to Utica? If you have time, please let me know how he is doing.

Look what happened last night

Just a little pre-graduating gathering for our DIL Amy.... Not everyday a Mom of 7 and a Grandma of 7, graduates from college. It was not ...
