What does this generation say now??

With all the sawing of wood here, there is dust flying everywhere.

I can handle pollen just fine, but I don't do well with dust. So last night I told Den,
"I need to get out of here for a bit." so we decided to go to Red Robin for dinner.
But look what we saw as soon as we opened their doors:

And it smelled just like our house, too.
The lights were blaring in our eyes….but we were told, "Don't worry, after the remodel our lights will go back to normal."
Even with my sunglasses on that place gave me a temporary headache.

But we're having a great week. As I am going through the kitchen drawers and cupboards,
I'm finding little surprises.
Like this list I made how many years ago of things my Mom use to say:

Don't rush off.

You don't eat enough to keep a bird alive.

If you can't beat em, join em.

This, that, and the other thing.

All good things must come to an end.

A little bit of information can be a dangerous thing.

There are many ways to skin a cat.

That piddlin' amount?

Oopsie daisy!

Like it or lump it

It worked like a charm!

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

It takes two to tango.

The proof is in the pudding.

Hold your horses!

I'm not doing this for my health!

Into every life some rain must fall.

When the cat's away the mice will play.

Dennis said he was raised with these sayings, too!
It must be the era our Moms came from. I rarely hear them anymore.

I'm trying to think….do we even have little sayings from this generation now?? I can't think of one.

Haha this made me laugh. My mom used to say the very same things!!!!!!!!!! One interesting thing, my son gave me an online test to take and it was about words, sayings and it told you where you were raised. Mine was right on spot!!!!!!!!

be sure you keep the central air and heat off until the repair is complete. The large amount of fine dust can damage your system. #realtor #tip

Red Robin looked like that...and you stayed? Maybe you should have offered to help out in the kitchen with one of your boiled egg or browned meat recipes.

I was raised with all of those sayings too!! I can't remember any sayings (right off the top of my head) that are used now, but then I can't remember what I had for breakfast :-)

I'm really thinking this generation must not have any sayings. Perhaps because they do most of their communicating through texting, not even using complete words.

Jill - you are right!
A lot of the "sayings" are also from pop culture: music, TV, movies, etc. I don't know many from the kids these days, but there was a time when everything was YOLO (You Only Live Once). It's from a song.

I still hear and say "it takes two to tango," but yeah, I'm not sure what happened to all of the other sayings. I usually just use movie quotes from Star Wars like "I can't shake 'em!" and "That's no moon" and "I find your lack of faith disturbing."

I've never heard any of those Tyler. But I especially like, "I find your lack of faith disturbing." I think I'll use that one.

Jill, no! "I find your lack of faith disturbing" is said by Darth Vader, just before he nearly kills a man!

And I think I have heard most of these, but I don't think my parents said them. I must have hearrd them in old movies/tv shows/cartoons I watched growing up.

:)) Well on second thought….maybe not.

MY favorites that mom used to say all the time are "you can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar" and " he who has a heart to help has a right to criticize" Nowadays kids just use silly text language like omg and lol or movie quotes like Tyler said. Occasionally I will hear quotes from a conference talk
Peggy Sue

Tyler: around my office we say "It's a trap!" a lot. (We're Admiral Akbar fans around here.)

Jill: I say "six of one, half dozen of the other" ALL the time. But I think it's an older saying that I just like.

A lot of those are familiar to me, too. My dad used to say, "What will fatten will fill."

=)

The saying that gets me because it doesn't matter what gender you are is: "DUDE!"

Can't wait to see the FINISHED product! How long is it taking? I thought the install takes a day but one day to make the template. EXCITING!
