Did you like Gone with the WInd?

Den and I have been watching this movie through 4 dinners so far and we are half way through.
The last time I saw it, I was 17 and I quite loved it!
It is so historical....not only the time period of 1865,
but also the time period it was actually made in, 1939.

But guess what? So far Dennis doesn't like it.
I am totally gripped by it, while he is watching the clock.
I love the drama of it all, and the drama is constant. I had forgotten how constant.

Did you enjoy this movie once upon a time?
Or were you the only other person (besides Dennis) who hadn't seen it?

I love that movie! Most men do not like it. Too much romance and Scarlett playing with men's emotions, I guess.
I love the burning of Atlanta scene! Totally amazing!

I liked it all though it has been a while. Den isn't the only one who hasn't seen it. Tom hasn't seen it either.

I do like Gone With the Wind a lot, both the book and the movie. However I know several people who strongly dislike it!

I expected to LOVE Gone with the Wind, but I didn't! I think maybe because everyone told me I was going to love it so much, that made it more of a let down. Looking back, I like it okay, I guess, but I was so disappointed when I saw it for the first time. It did not live up to the hype, for me.

Bret and I watched it a few years ago because neither of us had ever seen it. I was expecting a beautiful love story that took place in the south, but we were both shocked to find out that Scarlett O'Hara was a total brat. I found it a little bit hard to like a movie when one of the main characters is so dislikable.

love the costumes
love the acting
the scenery is wonderful

the story of sad pathetic selfishness and how it ruins so many lives leaves me disgusted. i'll never watch it again. never.

I've never seen it either! (Or read the book!) Although, I did read the second half of the second book once upon a time. (I don't really remember what it was about. It was in one of our then many Readers Digest books.)

I feel like it's something that I should read at some point in my life, and I suppose I'll eventually get there. There's just other things I've been meaning to get to first.

I don't think I ever saw the entire movie many, many years ago. That is one movie though that I keep thinking I need to watch. Thanks for the reminder.

LOVED it! Seen it 5 or 6 times over the years. Read the book twice. It's just so romantic. Though people act very badly to each other, it was still totally gripping. I prefer Pride and Prejudice, another gripping and very intelligent love story, because goodness wins out in the end. Not like Gone with the Wind.
