Christmas Day 1986

Tyler and Karen were interested in what Tyler looked like back in the day
when he was about Richie's age.....
so I went through some videos and found this one in 1986.

Apparently that morning 26 years ago I woke up in a pouty mood, as you will see in the beginning.

And in case you were afraid to ask... yes I did cut my boys' hair,
and yes, bowl cuts were popular back then.
I hope so anyway.

I also thought my sons might enjoy hearing their Dad's voice again.
Yesterday marked 16 years since he died. Much has changed since then,
but I still dream about that house, and my babies.

That video was AWESOME! I'm so glad that you posted it. I was hoping that you would when I saw your text.
And my goodness, Rich is so much like his dad. It was almost like watching Rich move all around (you know, if Rich were wearing a dark wig).

I cannot believe how much hair McKay had (has?).

What a great thing to have! I can see that was probably the busiest time of your life!

Darlene~ Right, crazy and busy, and as you could see....messy!

Karen~ Den and I are laughing about Richie with a dark wig! Both McKay and Tyler were born with lots of hair. By age 1, they had both had several haircuts.

I love this video. There were several shots of Richie in there, no doubt about it. Very cool to see.

Thanks for sharing this family video. I do remember those bowl cuts being popular but I didn't care for them with my boys, but McKay and Tyler really do look cute with those cuts. I'm trying to decide which one of your boys if not all of them sound like Bill after listening to his voice. And you sounded a little pouty, but atleast you didn't sound grumpy like I did on a couple of Christmas mornings like I was :-))

Cute video. Your little boys were so cute. Who was that other gentleman in the room?

Doesn't Richie look more like Karen's side?

Yes Darlene, I agree Richie looks very much like his mama. But there are certain expressions he makes that remind me so much of his Dad at that age.

Furthermore, I have a sister in law who has this theory that firstborn children look like the opposite sex parent. While that was not true for my firstborn, looking around it seems more often true than not.

I love that there is a constant stream of crazy kid voices in the background. So glad we aren't the only family like that!

And where does the hair gene come from? Must be from Bill bc aren't Rozier babies pretty bald?

Grandma Honey said...

Carly~ My first 2 were the typical bald Rozier babies, but then McKay and Tyler were born needing a hair cut, literally. We have no idea where their hair gene came from. Bill and his brother were born bald. The first time my Dad saw McKay in the hospital with his dark looking bushy afro complete with a faint mustache and sideburns, he seriously thought there had been a mix up. When I assured him that I saw McKay being born, he said, "Sometimes hospitals do make mistakes."

What a wonderful video! It's so cool that you have these!
I love all of the comments too.
I see a really good blend of both Karen and Tyler in Rich. He's such a darling little guy!!

I love this video sooooo much, great memories. Darling family.(At 1 and half minutes, just what are you trying to hide under that sofa cushion, Jill!)

I'm sorry I didn't acknowledge the 16th year mark with a phone call or remembrance card. I do think of you all the time.

Pam...I was wondering the same thing! I didn't catch that until about the 3rd time through, but yes, I did wonder what I was hiding under that sofa cushion.
