That would be a nightmare! I'm such a worrier that when our own four children were growing up I would always count heads before we left, and now when we go with our adult children and grandchildren, I am always "counting heads" before any of the cars leave. I'm glad the little boy in this article knew enough to stay put in one place!

I have been there and done that! It is so scarey. We were traveling with friends in two cars and our kids were sometimes in each others cars as they were all good friends. Anyway, we left our little Nikki, who was maybe three or four in a department store we had stopped at while we were traveling. It was in Pocatello Idaho and we were on our way to Salt Lake. We had gone quite a few miles when we noticed that Nikki wasn't with us. This was before cell phones and we were not too worried because we were pretty sure she was in the car behind up. We slowed up until they passed us and we opened the window and asked them if Nikki was in their car and when they said no, I almost died. We turned around and stopped at the nearest phone to call and see if she was there. She was, thank heavens and was being entertained right there at the store so we were able to reunite with her, but had to drive for about 45 minutes to get her. I was so grateful and shed many tears of thanksgiving and kept thanking my Heavenly Father for those wonderful people who found her all alone and took such good care of her until we were able to pick her up. Believe me, that is an experience I wouldn't want anyone to go through.

I am glad I am not alone. When I take my kids in from recess I don't always know who is missing until I start looking at the chairs.

Same thing happened to us when Daniel was the same age. We left him at a wedding in AZ & it wasn't until we all got out of the car to the place we were staying at that we realized...uh oh...he didn't even miss us!

I left my son, at two, at my friend's house once. Drove all the way to town with all the kids in the back.... or so I thought. When I noticed he was missing, I raced back. He didn't even miss me. But my friend said, "You know you have too many children, Darlene, when something like this happens!" She was joking of course. She had 4 children too!

My neighbors had a similar experience, only their child was taken from them for several hours until they could prove they weren't neglectful parents...scary!
