Coughing, House Hunters, and Hailey

My Mom use to say, "If you want it to rain, don't bring an umbrella." A Murphy Law sort of thing.

On another note, when I would say to my Mom something like, "Oh that never happens to me." she would say with a sweet little smirk on her face, "Never say never." And guess what? She was usually right.

So one would think I would learn.

I thought of my Mom last night. Would you believe it was just hours after I wrote on my blog that Pulsatilla always works on my cough~~~that I suddenly had a cough nothing would touch. Finally after a few doses of Pulsatilla, Vicks on the soles of my feet, the vaporizer on, and a spoonful of Robitussin, I was able to quiet down and fall asleep about 2am.

The cough was much better today, practically non existent, but a fever took over where the cough left off.

I really thought I would escape the virus that ran through our house (and hotel) over the holidays. McKenna~McKay~Grant~Tyler~Richie~even Dennis came down with it.

Karen and I were the lucky ones, or so I thought. Thankfully she's still fine!

It's been such a long time since I've experienced a fever. I had forgotten how much it takes out of a person. I actually watched three episodes of House Hunters. I had no idea it costs over $450,000. for a 500 sq foot apartment in Manhattan. There wasn't even a bedroom in that apartment. Just a Murphy Bed to pull down from a wall at night. And if that isn't crazy enough, it was on the 22 floor!

I also found a new APP for Dennis in next month's issue of Good Housekeeping that arrived today. He can check his heart rate by just placing his finger over the camera on his iPhone. Azumio's Instant Heart Rate.

If I learn anything else tomorrow, I'll let you know.

Meanwhile,
Look what Hailey has been up to.
Seeing this was a bright spot in my day.
What a little sweetheart. We miss her!

Sorry you have been coughing/sick. Hope you are feeling better soon. My recipe to quiet a cough if you are brave enough:
1 Tablespoon honey
1 Tablespoon Bragg apple cider vinegar (has to be Bragg, it's organic and raw)
1 Tablespoon lemon juice
Put in a tea cup, fill the rest of the way with water, heat in microwave and sip. Works like a charm.

So sorry to hear that the virus finally hit you. I always say something like "Never say never", but it's too long to quote here. I do believe in 'Murphy's Law' though :-) I hope you feel better soon!

Great, effective remedy Rebecca, but microwaving radiates/kills off most of the beneficial properties. I would suggest heating water in a teapot/pan :) And, yay for a Hailey post!

So sorry you are sick! Get better soon! I love that you can still blog and entertain us and educate us all while you are having a fever and feeling bad! Thanks! That app sounds cool...might have to give it a try! Take care!

Sorry to hear you finally succumbed. I succumbed Monday and am just now (Saturday) peeking my head out of my room. Poor Richard. Nary a meal from me. He had to feed the missionaries alone (yea for pizza), we couldn't go to Seinfeld with the tickets I purchased in November, and although yuckiness abounded, it sure gave Richard an ample opportunity to serve. Bless him.

Darling pictures of Hailey. Is she in Utah or California?

LOL! What a funny post but sorry to hear you got sick! I never would have known your poor family was ill during the holidays!

G & Jasmine got some horrible stomach flu & fever. Lucky it was major 24 hr. thing but the effects of fatigue lingered for a few days. So far so good for me though! : ) I passed along the P info to my SIL's & MIL since they all seem to get a major chronic cough throughout the year. THANKS again for the tip~

Pierced earrings! So grown-up! And so brave!

Very sorry to hear you've been feeling so sick, Jill. I guess this virus is all over the country. So many of us were sick over Christmas too, and the cough/cold and sinus ache just keeps hanging on. I can't shake it. But it's tons better than it was, but I can really commiserate with you, it does knock you out!

And, believe me, I know all about how expensive real estate is in New York City! And the closer you live to Manhattan the more expensive it is. Ray and I are always amazed at other states and the beautiful homes you can get with lots of property in nice neighborhoods, compared to the small homes and postage stamp size property here in New York for the same amount.

'Hope you are feeling better SOON! And I hope the rest of your family has recovered too!
Love and Prayers,
Eileen
