Grandma Honey has a bad wing...

Dennis here.  Jill is unable to type at the present time so she has asked me to send this little message out to Internet-Land.  She has pain in her left shoulder and arm preventing her from doing simple things, including typing a post.  It was bad enough that she even had me attempt to curl her hair last night.  She said it was a pathetic, but sweet, try.  The laundry, dishes, making the bed, cooking, and cleaning will just have to wait until she gets better...just kidding.  I hope I'm doing better at those things than I did with a curling iron.

She will continue reading your blogs and comments, but might not be able to respond until the pain goes down.  She will be seeing the Dr. tomorrow and hopefully physical therapy will be in order.  Meanwhile, ice is her best friend. However, she would appreciate any advice on how to sleep with a bad shoulder.  She doesn't do well with pharmaceuticals so she won't be using pain relievers.  All suggestions are very welcome.

so sad! I wish I had a suggestion to make things even a little better, but I have nothing. I do send my love and hope that all will get better soon.

Chamomile tea is a natural sedative for the sleeping part. Maybe you have some in your yard? A heating pad on your shoulder might help through the night, and rub some tea tree oil/euchalyptus/menthol cream on the affected area. Be well.

LOL! Loved the start of this post! Still snickering. Anyways...what my husband did & maybe Dennis can go pick it up but G went out & bought a nice comfortable reclined & slept in it until he could move with his broken ribs & stuff. Even I could move that leather recliner around so don't hesitate to call him 647-5600 & ask for it! That's his cell since he never answers the house one, in fact if I'm not there & i'm not, no one will answer that phone. I'll be back late Mon. Maybe me & Anna can go over & CLEAN HOUSE for you! That would be fun for us! I got great cleaning supplies from Don Aslett my favorite! : )

Grandma Honey sorry to hear that. Not so sure how to cure it. "Maybe using warm water would be better?not so sure too". But I hope you are getting better now. Takecare.

Oh dear I am so sorry Jill! I hope you are well soon. Will a pillow help? I LOVE "Arnica" cream. You have to get it at the health food store. I swear by it for all aches and pains! It is all natural. I also have to add I could not quit laughing, thinking of Dennis trying to curl your hair! I can only imagine how my hair would look if John Deere tried to style it....

Oh Jill!! I hope you feel better soon!

We'll be there soon, and Tyler and I can help Dennis with the chores. Let me know if there is anything that you need from us. I'll be interested to hear what the doctor has to say. Hopefully this is something that can be healed quickly.

We love you!

OH DEAR!!! Hi Dennis! Nice to meet you! ;-) Anyhow, Jill rest up and get better! I have something fun to share with you but you will have to be able to use your arm(s). Also try melatonin for help in the sleep department. They put me out! Sending you love from FL!

When my dad had shoulder surgery he had to use a pillow under his shoulder to sleep. Heating pads worked good too. :) Hope you feel better!!

Sorry you have pain in your shoulder. Have you heard of NAET? I have to tell you, though...it seems really weird...BUT it totally works. I haven't tried it (haven't needed to) but my Mom has. Around Thanksgiving or Christmas time, my Mom's knee was BAD. She had to use a cane to get around and thought she would need surgery to get it replaced in order to walk again. BUT she heard of a NAET Practitioner and went. She walked out of the office and her knee wasn't hurt anymore. They give things your body is needing (like iron or vitamin D) to heal you. She has an office in San Luis Obispo (my Mom goes to Albuquerque). Here is the link if you are interested. http://www.drmarilynchernoff.com/healing/Home.html
Hope you feel better soon!

Give Jill a (gentle) hug from me.

I don't like pain pills either, so when I 'm hurting I tend to alternate heat and cold all day long. This really helps!

And she will probably have to either sleep on her back, or lay on the good side with a body pillow to support her shoulder and keep it from sagging forward.

My husband's extremely painful shoulder was immediately helped by a cortisone shot. I'm not much for drugs, but if the doctor says this well help, I would advise Jill to make an exception and go for it. He has never been bothered by that shoulder again, and when he was only having physical therapy, it seemed like it was turning into a chronic complaint.

So sorry she has to go through this. Tell her I will keep her in my prayers. Thanks!

=)

Dear Jill, I am so sorry you are suffering, shoulder pain is awful!! I have a couple of thoughts to share, first my mom gets a cram off of QVC, that really works. I pulled something in my shoulder and she rubbed it on and it was gone immediately!!! After i had tried all day to get better with Motrim etc... It's called Dr. Nimeroff's Joint Formula 88. It's expensive but lasts long and really works. 2nd I had a bad knee and suffered for 2 years because I didn't want to take drugs etc... so when I finally gave in and got the cortisone shot in my knee it was also immediately better, and the the fear of the shot its self was silly because it didn't even hurt !! I hope I have helped in some way !! I am praying for you Jill!! Love ya R

So sad to hear that you are in pain Jill. My only suggestion is to try to keep the shoulder supported. I like the idea of sleeping in a recliner maybe. You are in my prayers.

So sorry Jill...I wish I had an extra wing to give you...I can come and curl your hair for you...or anything else you might need. David gave me a permanent once...it was a valianat effort, but he cut everything off that he couldn't get in the roller...Robin's cream really worked for Linda Saunders and Gerry Merrill.

You are so fortunate that your Dennis will do your blog for you. I just can't imagine my Dick doing anything like that. I do hope that you will be feeling better soon. It may take a while though, but whatever regime you go on, just don't give up on it. Most things will help if you are consistent.

Look what happened last night
