Banana Almond Butter Popsicles

Just watch this and see if you don't feel like making these!
I love the passion.  I just recently discovered her website.

We aren't into popsicles but this is what we like:  Frozen banana chunks, a little non dairy milk, and ice whirled up in a blender.
(Our grandchildren LOVE it!)
Dennis likes to have this every night before going to bed now.  He also adds flax seed and protein powder to his.
He gave up his nightly Lucky Charms and feels so much better.
This Weelicious lady is the one who gave me the idea of adding almond or peanut butter.

I think I would love the flavor of these and especially since there is no sugar involved. So...how did they taste?

Peggy...I just changed the post a little to answer your question.

These sound really good. Your dad likes frozen bananas and strawberries (and sometimes frozen grapes) in whole milk. It makes a smoothie. I would like to add some protein to punch it up nutritionally. (Can you recommend a brand?) We'll have to try the almond butter too.

Thanks for the new ideas.

Love, Susan

I like your idea better. That's something Craig would like so I think I'll give it a try. Thanks for the idea!

Susan...Since you 2 are not allergic to dairy, like we are, there are so many protein powders you can choose from...that I wouldn't know about being we go milkless.

Dennis likes, "Vanilla flavored Soy Protein Powder" by Trader Joe. I like, "Amazing Meal" by Amazing Grass that I get at Whole Foods...but mine is very green and changes the taste of everything I put it in...but I feel better on days I use it, and I like it.

I love how she does the whole process with her child on her hip! Yay for Dennis for improving his bedtime snack! Sounds good!

Here's my morning smoothie:
Some coconut "water" (a half a small container)
same amount of water
one large ripe banana (or two small ones)
One heaping tbs. of spirilina powder
one tsp. of raw cacao powder
a tablespoon of coconut oil

Blend and enjoy!(It's an acquired taste, so keep trying. It's so good for you!)

Darlene...I am not familiar with coconut water, only coconut milk...does the c water come in a can? or how do you buy it?
I have also not heard of cacao powder...what is that?
And really a whole T of spirilina? That seems like a lot but it must give you lots of energy.

I worked up to that amount of spirilina. Try 1 tsp. to start with. Google cacao on the Internet. It's one of the new superfoods with all the benefits of chocolate but none of the problems with it. Coconut water can be found at Trader Joes in the quart size very reasonably. I buy mine online by the case (11 oz) in the cardboard containers... that's how they all come) Coconut water is naturally slightly sweet (it's the liquid from the center of the coconut) and is very nutritious. This drink turns out very green!! I like green. It's alkalizing to the body.... which is a good thing.

Thanks for all the info Darlene. Now I have some research to do...especially about the coconut water. I had a bad reaction to spirulina years ago but there may have been something wrong with it. It's in my 'Amazing Meal' I drink and I'm fine with it, but it just has a little in there I think. I'm always wanting to learn more.

Just try a tiny bit of the spirilina, then. I really love the stuff!
PS I've been posting twice cuz it doesn't go the first time. Do you get two identical posts from me each time?

Grandma Honey said...

No Darlene, only one post comes through. I'm sorry that is happening...I have no idea why....but thank you for continuing with me.

I wonder if anyone else is having to post twice like that?
