McKay's car

Was this a sign?I mean, was this a sign we would find a car for McKay? Right on this very corner was the Sacramento mission office that had 6 used cars for sale.

We had bought 2 cars from the Fresno mission in the past which we have been very pleased with. However, our mission has been out of used cars for a while now, so it was worth it to us to drive the 3 hours into Sacramento.

Plus it was our 10th anniversary.
Den and I would actually get teary eyed just saying that.
We feel so blessed to have found each other.

So he took me away for a few days to celebrate. And to possibly find a car with the insurance money, to replace the one that was totaled while McKay was sleeping. If you remember that story.

We had 6 cars to choose from,
but Dennis felt this one was the best.
Excuse me while I put pictures here
so McKay can see what it looks like.We like buying formerly used mission cars.
We know they are well taken care of,
always doing oil changes on time, etc.
And the price is always more than fair.

The missions try to sell them near 50,000 miles...this one has 48,000.
I had an unrelenting headache the entire weekend. I rarely get headaches and when I do, I have my little cures for them. But nothing worked this time.

Richard and Wendy, and also Bret and Whitney were in Sacramento this past weekend too. We so much wanted to see them, along with Hailey and Jason, but it didn't work out.

We did enjoy our hotel room in Rancho Cordova.
This time I took pictures before we messed it up.
Unlike last time. I always feel more at home with a kitchen in our room.

We found a fun place to eat.
Wish they had these here. The restaurant was decorated with all these family members' pictures all over the walls. I like being surrounded by family pictures, even if I don't know the people.

We came home with some clothes we found at the outlet stores.
It felt so good to shop without a broken foot, even with a headache.

I saw the sign below at the mission office.
Maybe it was my headache, but I had to ask what it meant.

It looks like a good car and that street sign must have been a good omen :-) Your hotel room looks nice. I'm glad you were able to have a nice anniversary weekend getaway!

You saw the sign......

Happy Anniversary!

I never heard of missions selling cars. I wonder if they do that here in Arizona.

I too like a kitchen in the hotel suite. Then you don't have to eat out every meal unless you want to.

And happy anniversary! Has it really been 10 years?!

My dad must have told me that same motto about a million times!

Interesting Carly, because I don't think I had ever heard it before.

Yes Mary, I think they sell cars in all the missions...well all the missions that have cars in the first place. They never advertise so if you don't call you will never know they are there. I always feel safe buying from the church because I know they are always upfront about every detail. Sacramento mission had 15 cars last month and now they are down to 5. The elder who sold it to us told us that the 10 cars they sold so far were all bought by repeat customers. Doesn't surprise me.

I'm sorry you had a headache, but I'm glad you and Dennis were able to get a nice little break. Hope you are feeling better now.

Congratulations! 10 years. It just seems like yesterday I was at your reception. I am so happy for you. It is so nice to see you so happy. If anyone deserves to be happy, it's you.

I love the car story. Glad you found something for McKay.

Happy Anniversary!

Sounds like you had a wonderful few days away! I like the room you stayed at a lot, I like having a kitchen in the room too!
And I knew that quote from Ray, he says it all the time when he is doing home improvement projects!

We're still away, but I got on the computer tonight to read some posts and I had to wish you well for your Anniversary!
God Bless you both!
All the best,
Eileen

Looks like a good car. I think that's the nice thing about mission cars--they have been treated well. When you see a sign with my name on it, are you going to buy me something? I think that would make a great family tradition.

Grandma Honey said...

Tyler, well then that would mean I would need to buy all the frozen foods at Food for Less for you. Remember when you were little and you would point out 'TYLER' written on all the freezers there?

btw. please tell McKay to look at my blog today.

Tyler Heasley said...

Of course I remember! That place was freezing.

I texted McKay.

Grandma Honey said...

That's because you were a little kid and your little face was near all the freezers. You were always so proud those freezers shared your name.

Karen Mortensen said...

That is funny about the freezer. I had a similar thing with pencil sharpeners. My initials were on them. Either KS or KLS. Now my initials are on trucks. KLM

Happy Anniversary Jill and Dennis!! I noticed you were gone on Sunday and didn't know why. I'm glad you were busy celebrating!!! Here's what you missed. The men's choir performed beautifully, Rex Biberston and Bro Ashcroft spoke....I don't think any new callings were extended. Bishop was all alone. Tim was home with sick babies and Bro Badal was out of town. Bart and Bishop Woodbury kept Bishop company at the stand.

Anyway...HAPPY 10th Anniversary!

Grandma Honey said...

Wow, thank you for the update Krista! I could picture it all and it was sort of like being there. :))

I refuse to believe you and Dennis have been married for ten years. That would mean I was a high school freshman ten years ago. No way has it been that long. Congratulations on your anniversary. It's nice, even in pictures, to see one of the boys' cars parked where their cars have always been parked.

Grandma Honey said...

I agree it cannot be 10 years. And no way you were a high school freshman 10 years ago. Seems like last week!

I'm just glad that this time you took a picture of the bed before we slept in it !

It's been a great 10 years.

Is this your record on comments?

Grandma Honey said...

I think so, but I can't go on to the next one until I hear from McKay. :)

Tyler Heasley said...

McKay saw your post, by the way. He told me tonight.

Tyler Heasley said...

As in, he saw the pictures and stuff.

Grandma Honey said...

Thanks Tyler. McKay finally called me last night. I guess he's been quite sick with H1N1. Please thank Karen for taking him to the health center!

Richard said...

Hope McKay is feeling better. Sorry we missed you in Sacramento. I think that restaurant you liked looked a little too geriatric for such a young, fun loving couple like yourselves. Next time try Plutos at the Galleria Mall in Roseville...high quality, low prices and you don't risk finding a set of someone elses dentures in your salad bowl.

What a great idea, buying a mission car!

I hope your headache is gone now. Looks like you managed to have a good time in spite of it.

And congrats on ten years.
