Look what I found!

With Dennis out of town the past week, I find myself wandering around town talking to strangers. Have I ever mentioned that this is something I enjoy doing?
It comes naturally through my genes, via my Dad.

So last night I was at Panda Express by myself, and I spotted 2 infant carriers side by side on a table.
Could I pass this opportunity up? NO!
I went up to this very tired and happy looking couple and said,
"So sorry to interrupt your dinner, but uh, You have twins??!"

I think she said they were born 3 weeks ago, at 34 weeks.
They have not even reached their due date yet.

So meet Joe and Nate:
This mom said she did not get to sleep until 4:45am this morning!
These babies eat 10 times each a day.
So that's 20 times between them both!

I told her our twins are at 29 weeks now. She said she started labor at 29 weeks and with meds they were able to keep the twins in her for another 5 weeks after that. (I wanted to get these facts right for Amy...I know she would want to know :)

I was sad to leave this couple. I'll probably never see them again.
I wanted to watch their twins grow up.
But there is only so much I can ask of a stranger.

Jill,

We would loved to have gone to Panda Express with you! No need to go alone unless you wanted to. Then we could have seen the twins too.

We should have thought to ask you. Sorry I didn't think of it. In retrospect we knew you were going to be alone after we went to your house on Sunday night. This is one of my main faults--I don't put 2 and 2 together so I could follow through to do something fun and enjoyable for you. Forgive us. I have to be bonked on the head! I love that you're so friendly as is your dad. I really admire that trait. It is hard for me to chat with strangers.

I am so excited to meet the twins. I am looking forward to the light nights! Yes, that's right, I enjoy it. With all my other children, I loved getting up with them in the middle of the night. It was my time to bond with them. I will just have to learn how to cat nap during the day. Thanks Mom for sharing this with us. I wish I could of been with you.

That is so cool that you got to meet some twins. You guys should have at least exchanged e-mails. That was really nice that the parents let you take their pictures. Something similiar happened to me at the doll show. I saw a young man in a wheelchair and started talking to him and his mom. He was so handsome and so sweet. I think he had CP. Anyway, the whole time I had tears in my eyes. I felt so blessed to be in his presents. I had my camera with me but it never crossed my mind to take his picture. I wish it would have. Anyway, thanks for sharing such a great experience with us.

KAREN...I know what you mean. I get that way sometimes too being in the presence of people with special needs. Their spirits are huge and have come to teach us so many things. I have come to learn that it is an honor to be in their presence.

AMY..I can relate to what you said about getting up at night with newborns. I treasured that time. I loved getting up in the night too with my babies, and having them close to me. Of course I didn't have to get up far being they were in bed with us, but I've never done it with 2. :)

Oh how you can make me chuckle. I love this post and I love that you are who you are!

I bet you WILL see these twins agains since they are so close in age to Amy's and...it seems like maybe there might be some support group or something right? For couples with mutliple births? I don't know...I wouldn't discount the odds.

When I was a single college student, I learned to love going out by myself sometimes--to dinner, to the theater, whatever. I often met nice people that way, but I never had the courage to be the one to start up a conversation. Look what I missed out on!

If I were out and about and ran into you and you weren't my cousin, I think I would talk to you. You have that approachabiliy gene.

How fun for you to talk to those people with twins!! I am always fascinated whenever I see twins just because I like to see what is the same about them and what are the differences. I could do that all day long!

Look what happened last night

Just a little pre-graduating gathering for our DIL Amy.... Not everyday a Mom of 7 and a Grandma of 7, graduates from college. It was not ...
