Romantic evening with the twins

Tonight marked 11 years from our first date.
And to think it all started when I received this message in my inbox:I did a post in 2008 about this, so go here to read it if you want.

So imagine how romantic it was last night when we had the twins for the evening. They arrived sound asleep but as soon as Amy and Logan left they both woke up, took one look at Den and I, and then cried. Nothing would stop the crying. I think they are at the peek of stranger anxiety. We aren't strangers but they know we aren't their parents either.

So what did we do?

We loaded them up, still crying, into our car and drove around the neighborhood looking at Christmas lights and decorations. The babies were too low in the car to see anything but they were quiet and happy. The old car trick still works after all these years.

I turned on our song...cranked it up high and thought to myself how blessed I am to be married to such a wonderful man. How happy we have been these past 11 years. How when we met 11 years ago last night, Den had 2 grandchildren. Now we have 17 between us!

Before we left the house we found 2 old umbrella strollers in the garage and threw them in the trunk. With that we decided to check out the ward Christmas party. The babies loved it.

Little Duncan Walker was doing his best to entertain Téa.
She was totally intrigued by him as you can see.

How can they look so comfortable with Santa?
The big man in the red suit that most babies are afraid of!!

What kind of Santa would give an 8 month old baby a candy cane?
Maybe one who has a day job with the FBI.
Téa was more interested in her candy cane and Jonas was fascinated by Santa's beard
Where was their fear?
After all, they are going through this separation anxiety phase right now. And they cry at their grandparents' house!

Our song? Here it is.
I keep it in our car at all times. And whenever I put it on, Dennis sings it to me. Really. He's that sweet.

Cute post Jill. I love the song. I am glad you answered that email. Dennis and his family are wonderful. It is good to see you so happy. I am glad to see that other people have romantic nights like Tom and I do sometimes. The twins are adorable.

Beautiful post! And thanks for providing the link to last year's post too!
Good thing you had a friend that encouraged you to give your phone number because if I was advising you I probably would have said, "Forget this guy, he's too pushy, the nerve of him giving you an ultimatum!"
And look at all you both would have missed out on just because of my ill advice!

You've both got good instincts! 'So happy you were led to each other!
Congratulations and I hope you enjoy many more Blessed years together!

The twins are adorable and I got such a kick out of them crying at the grandparents but not batting an eyelash at Santa! Too funny!

All the best to you,
Eileen

The twins are adorable and I, too, think it's funny that they cry when first seeing you and Dennis but have no problem with Santa :-) What a fun way to spend an anniversary with the grandbabies! I remember when I was visiting you and we played that song over and over :-) Thanks for sharing the pictures and the reminder that I called Dennis a Big Baby :)

Jill, You and Dennis have such a romantic love story. Of course we are thrilled for both of you. Your dad and I started on LDS Singles too, but we don't have any dreamy music to go with ours.

The pictures of the twins are priceless! We loved this post. Love, Dad and Susan

To find love once is amazing, but to find it twice in a lifetime is totally awesome. What a tender post. I love your's and Dennis's song. I wish I knew how to get youtube stuff posted on my blog. I can't believe you have seventeen grandchildren between the two of you. How time flys!

Loved this post, Jill. I enjoy your sense of humor SO much. I often laugh out loud when I read your comments. You certainly seem to have a great and enviable marriage, and I love it that you acknowledge that often. An inspiration to us all.
