Blindside

This is what we all had to say about the movie last night:

Tyler: "Many movies today are Godless, but this one was obviously made by Christians. I loved it. I'm really glad they brought God into it."

Karen: "Finally a family-friendly film supporting the family values I believe in--love, respect, compassion, courtesy, etc."

McKay: "Really good. I keep wondering what parts are real and what parts aren't."

Dennis: "A combination football movie and chick flick."

Grandma Honey: "I agree with all the above except I did not see much chick flick about it. I could have used more of that. It was wonderful though walking out of the theater with thoughts of wanting to be a better person."

Hurry McKay, before the movie starts!
We got there early so we could sit in my favorite row...the highest one back. We brought egg sandwiches, apples, and chips and water for dinner during the movie.

Afterwards they wanted ice cream.
McKenna, you've been taking really good care of McKay's hair but I think he will need another hair cut as soon as you both get back to Provo. Just sayin.
Tyler was in shock we suggested the ice cream.
He knows how anti ice cream I am.

For some reason, my new camera does not always recognize Tyler as a face and won't focus him.

We came home and guess what Dennis did?
That's right, another BYU game.
Kris and Kim, don't you think your dad looks so cute in the snuggly you made for him?
Since we came before 5pm for the 5:15 showing, we got the matinee rate which was a nice surprise!

What did you think of this movie?

Great reporting Jill. Why are you anti ice cream? I love it. I enjoyed all the comments from the movie. I think Dennis looks darling in his snuggie.

We have really wanted to see that movie. I'm glad that it is good; it's so hard to find uplifting movies. And, Jill, you may comment on my blog anytime. I will have to make sure I don't blog anything that might embarrass McKenna.

Craig and I saw this movie this afternoon and loved it!!! I love the compassion and that it is so family friendly and Jill, you know I love Sandra Bullock so that says it all. And Tyler isn't the only one that was surprised that you suggested ice cream. That totally surprised me since I know you are anti ice cream. It looks like you all had a great time. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Jacki and I saw it on Saturday and LOVED LOVED it. It had such a powerful message and Sandra B was an amazing southerner didn't you think?

Tyler & McKay looks so much a like in the photo for this post.

Thanks for the info the other day. I met with Hospice RN tonight for the initial evalution. She didn't think he would make it to Thursday (the day I could reasonably arrange for 24 hr. nursing. She suggested that if he made it til tomorrow, that I should let them bring them to the hospice home. And out of curiosity, we went and saw it because of what you told me about it being a spiritual place. So when she suggested it despite my dad's request to come home, I am sending him there. It feels like the right thing to do.
As always you've been a blessing in my life. Such simple exchanges that we share, but MONUMENTAL to me. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.

On my limited budget, I can see only a few movies at the theater each year, so I tend to save those trips for "big screen events" like "Avatar" and "2012." But I put "Blind Side" on my Netflix as soon as it came out ad I can't wait to see it.

My dad hates going to the theater and only goes if Kathy drags him there, but he couldn't say enough good things about this film. I'd never heard my dad wax poetic about a movie before!

We've been wanting to see that movie, but have not had a chance yet! I'm excited to see it even more now that I read your reviews!

Love seeing Dad in the snuggie. It makes my heart do good. :)

I loved Blindside too! It was our Christmas Eve movie this year and my whole family really enjoyed it! McKay said his hair has done some crazy things so I will plan on cutting it for sure when we get back to Provo! It looks like you guys are having such a wonderful time together, I wish I could be there.

P.S. I love the picture of Dennis! No wonder McKay is such a true BYU fan. :)

Thank you for all these great comments!! I so very much appreciate you all taking the time. I just found out that on 20/20 this Friday night they are focusing on Blindside and the real story of it. Should be interesting.

I've gotta see that movie! Unfortunately I know I'll cry and I know my husband will be like, "Why are you crying? What do you feel?" Clueless.

It looks like you had a good Christmas too. Hope your New Year's celebration is fun.

Is Tyler part Chinese? We loved the movie too. I read the book about 4 years ago. It came out just as Oher was graduating from high school. The movie was remarkably true to the book. One thing the real Oher said was they made him out in the movie to be clumsy and nonaggresive when he first showed up to play football in hs. In real life he says he was always pretty skilled and very dominant. The real person is 6" 4", 310, the actor in the movie was 6' 8", 470, according to 20/20 last night.

I'm still looking for the right adjective, but Dennis looks rather mirthful/light hearted/androgenous in his blue "outfit." We need to talk.

Mirthful? Next time Natalie comes to town I'll ask her what that means.

Dennis is right now watching the dvr of 20/20 last night about this movie. I thought it was going to be on this Friday, but I guess it was on last night instead.

This is the second blog I've visited that really liked Blind Side, I'll have to go see it!

Anti-ice cream???? Please explain. Jill, what about a banana split with just a little ice cream?

All the best,
Eileen

I really want to see that movie! Do you think our kids are old enough to like it? Maybe Ryan and I will just have a date-night! We went another time and it was sold out.

I'm not sure what to think about the egg sandwhiches during a movie...hmmmm.... just kidding Jill. ;)

Dad, you're handsome as usual - even in a snuggie. :)

We saw the movie last week and I LOVED it. Definitely a feel-good movie, in my opinion. Nice to see people acting so Christ-like.

Look what happened last night
