Prop 8 video

If I were raising children right now, and Prop 8 does NOT pass, I would think strongly about homeschooling my children. This video makes me want to cry. I would not want anyone doing this to my grandchildren. If they were teenagers, that would be bad enough, but kindergartners??

Your post today certainly drove the message home! I need to learn how you did this for my blog!

They didn't have this back when my kids were in school. But they did have other "programs" that I didn't like. I didn't like the anti-drug programs that were introduced in kindergarten. It made me so mad that I didn't get to tell my kids about drugs in my own way when I thought they were old enough to understand. This is just one of many reasons why I did end up homeschooling. I didn't want the schools pushing their agenda on our kids and reaching into our family life with their endless homework. (I considered after school time to be family time.) But, then, I've always been a bit of a rebel.

I hear you Darlene. I've always admired you. You did what you felt was best for your sons, regardless of what most people around you were doing, or thinking. If I were a young mom these days, I would have a very difficult time putting my sons in the public school system, especially if Prop 8 doesn't pass.

I sincerely hope that prop. 8 passes. I believe that we need to make important decisions about where we are willing to go as a society. But I believe that public education is vital. It is important to have our children learn in a safe enviornment how to defend their beliefs. To shelter them and not teach them to ask themseleves is this what I believe, will only hurt them when they enter the real world. I think more than anything this is a pivitol reminder that parents need to be on guard, we need to be teaching our children earlier and more often. We need to teach them that other people make other choices but that does not make it okay for us. This is the world they live in and we must protect it, but also give the tools to survive it.

Jill, this makes me sick. My cousin and I were just talking about this the other day. Charter schools are expensive but I would pull my kids out and place them in a charter school with traditional family values. I hope this never happens in Utah. I don't think I could tolerate this kind of grotesque distortion of "marriage" being taught to my kids...esp. when I have no say or are not around to help them understand the conversation.

While I am not promoting home school, I have respect for parents who choose to go that route. However, I heard it once said, "We all believe in home schooling given the right circumstances." It's our barometers for this that are different.

This makes me cry and so sad. If Prop 8 doesn't pass we may end up moving out of California but then what is another states laws going to be? Its all so sad. While I never thought I would home school my kids, we may change our minds.

Look what happened last night

Just a little pre-graduating gathering for our DIL Amy.... Not everyday a Mom of 7 and a Grandma of 7, graduates from college. It was not ...
