Happy Birthday Kris and Kim!!

Does this mean Dennis is old? His daughters, Kris and Kim are 35 today! No way. Yep, it's true. I told Den that I'm not sure I should put their age on my blog. He said it is always okay for parents to talk about the ages of their children. I hope he's right.

They were born 10 days before I met my first husband. Who knew how our lives would turn. So while I was dating, Dennis was getting up nights with twin baby girls.

These girls are the light of Dennis' life.

This is one of Den's most favorite pictures in the whole world. All 4 of his kids on Pioneer Day:

Who would have thought that these 2 little girls would grow up to be the first female student body president and vice president of Rick's college in Rexburg, Idaho? Who would have thought that when they got married and both had babies that they would teach the same 4th grade class together? One would teach in the morning and the other in the afternoon and the one home would have the babies. Their absolute greatest accomplishment they would say is now being the full time mothers of their children.

We are so proud of them and love them dearly.

I remember the first time I met them. Back in May of 1999. They welcomed me with open arms and hearts. When I had my bridal shower they sent me the most beautiful burgundy robe that I still wear to this day. Our house is full of so many loving creative things made by them!

I don't mean to talk about them like they are the same person. Of course they aren't. But they do finish each other sentences. They both have the wonderful attribute of making anyone feel at home with them. They have a way of bringing out the best in all of us. When I first met them I had a hard time remembering which child went with which mother because they parent so much alike. Their children adore them and each other.

With this post, I have a guest blogger. Here's a few words from their father:

"I remember May 9, 1973 very well. Their mother and I had known for about two months that she was going to have twins. But we did not know whether they were boys or girls, or a mix. After her water broke, we went to the hospital about midnight. Seventeen hours later, Kim and Kris were born by C-section.

"I have to admit, as a typical father, I thought they would be boys. But, when I found out that I had two healthy daughters, I was the happiest man in the world.

"On their first night at home, I remember being awoken by a soft cry. I laid there with my eyes closed until I heard the same sounding cry, but in “stereo.” With my eyes still closed, I recall thinking “My life will never be the same.” And that was true. It never has been the same, only better.

"Kris and Kim were very easy children to raise. They were always very obedient to their parents and desired to do whatever was right. They grew up with a love for the Lord, family, friends, and wanting to serve others wherever they could. They were a good example to their brothers. Others who knew them, knew that they were good.

"As I look at them now, as beautiful mothers, with faithful husbands, with just as beautiful children, I marvel at how the years have passed so rapidly. They have the same desires for their children as I had for mine. There is nothing that I would want more.

"Although they are 35 years old today, they are still my little girls."
