She was maskless (as were about half the customers.) Then suddenly she backs up at least 6 feet, but more like 10 feet, and waits there instead. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">This was particularly noticeable because no one else was distancing in any of the other lines.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">It was obvious to me, that while she was maskless and most likely believed differently than us in that regard, she showed respect for our beliefs or concerns, and gave us space. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">I was very touched by her kindness, and also by her character. I was hoping to tell her so but we were soon put in another line and I lost sight of her. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">It was a sweet experience I'm thankful we got to witness. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Quite different from how we both felt last November coming home from the UPS store. As we were getting in the car, we noticed a sign in the window of a small business...</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiqGZmrfF8N7dzzktWUjihBLBL9MDswehqL4amiE2M6_BKdUUVqFZ-xMSJiRlsV2r2e7jUYQg-FxHalpPWnXRpwv4whBvTVKSFLFO2bMmYuyBPN_iZeDtKba48tpRMoMIXhK8b2SDbvrFHLYB40Ess9gfOK58KhPx_8VKJMFPRtB3RGS3AbymH6VX_x" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiqGZmrfF8N7dzzktWUjihBLBL9MDswehqL4amiE2M6_BKdUUVqFZ-xMSJiRlsV2r2e7jUYQg-FxHalpPWnXRpwv4whBvTVKSFLFO2bMmYuyBPN_iZeDtKba48tpRMoMIXhK8b2SDbvrFHLYB40Ess9gfOK58KhPx_8VKJMFPRtB3RGS3AbymH6VX_x=w640-h480" width="640" /></a></span></div><span style="font-size: large;"><br /><div style="text-align: center;">If you can't see the sign, it reads:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">MASK USE STRICTLY</div><div style="text-align: center;">PROHIBITED ON THIS</div><div style="text-align: center;">ENTIRE PROPERTY</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">IF YOU ARE SCARED</div><div style="text-align: center;">STAY HOME</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">I guess it's no wonder there were no customers inside.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;">We do have rights, and we can make choices.</div><div style="text-align: center;">But kindness with those choices makes a HUGE difference.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></span><p><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p><br /></p>Grandma Honeyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09587160523698527979noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7846587760546243558.post-30846967105454998292022-02-14T21:00:00.002-08:002022-02-14T21:04:06.010-08:00I understand better now<p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: arial;">It finally occurred to me yesterday why my Dad loved the hymn </span><i style="font-family: arial;"><b><span>Love at Home</span></b></i><span style="font-family: arial;"> so much. He had us sing it every single time we had FHE. Always off key. So grating to my ears. </span></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">I would cringe each time it was the chosen hymn at church. Oh no, not that song again.</span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">Yesterday it was our closing hymn at the end of Sacrament meeting and that’s when it hit me. He heard this song <i><b>differently</b></i> than I did.</span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><b><i>A</i></b><i style="font-weight: bold;">fter</i> his Mom died when he was only 6, so went his happy home. His Dad quickly remarried and his step mom was not very nice to him, or his 5 siblings. They began quickly leaving home as soon as they could. But Dad was only 6, so he had to endure it the longest. </span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">I’m sure he yearned for what he didn’t have. </span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="color: #990000; font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><i>“Roses bloom beneath our feet, All the earth’s a garden sweet.</i></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="color: #990000; font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><i>Making life a bliss complete. When there’s love at home.” </i></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="color: #990000; font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><i><br /></i></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="color: #990000; font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><i>“There is beauty all around when there’s love at home</i></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="color: #990000; font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><i>There is joy in every sound. When there’s love at home.”</i></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">There is not joy in every sound when you grow up with 7 siblings. Or later, when you parent 4. </span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">That song always sounded so beyond reality, and laughably sweet, but I’m finally getting it. It sounded like heaven to my Dad. </span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">I’ve never known anything but a happy home. Growing up, and the ones I raised my kids in, and the one Den and I have together now. </span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><i>What I took for granted</i>, my Dad yearned for. While I didn’t hear “joy in every sound” he probably thought that's how it would be<b><i> if he just had a Mom and Dad who were there for him. </i></b></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><b>What he didn’t have, he wanted for all of us.</b> So he married our angel mother and worked as hard as he could so <b>we</b> could have her with us every day. He learned about family life from her, and then gave it his all as best he could.</span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><b><i>This made a huge difference for his posterity after him.</i></b></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">He graduated from this life on Valentine’s Day three years ago today. </span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">I didn’t thank him enough while he was here, for all he gave to us. Somehow, I hope he knows how grateful I am.</span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;">Anyway, that's what I've been thinking today.</span></p>
<p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-family: arial; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>

So the quality is not the best. </span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Just a simple little day.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Can I also point out that Grandmas and Moms are different. I handed my baby over to the 5 year old. Grandmas don't do that.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;">Just hang in there while Brock and Logan are being themselves, and then notice how the music changes as soon as my Mom enters the picture. I didn't plan that or arrange it. It just happens. And rightfully so. </span></p>

So our Montana grands were trying to cheer him up. (I think it worked!)</span></p>

While Den was still sleeping, I went to the family room and opened the slider to let fresh air in. </span></span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue";">Problem is I forgot to turn off the house alarm first, so it went blaring! I hurried over to the panel to put our code in, but no matter how many times I tried, the alarm would not go off! This had never happened before. </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-size: large;">Nothing would get rid of that very painful loud alarm. I tried as best I could to keep my fingers in my ears. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-size: large;">Den bolts awake, and he couldn’t get it to stop either. Soon our phone was ringing from the alarm company asking if we were okay. I said yes, but the alarm wouldn't quit <i>(I was shouting into the phone so he could hear me above all the noise. Or maybe so I could hear myself.) </i></span></p><p><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue; font-size: large;">The alarm company soon connected me to a tech, Thomas, who sounded like he was from India. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-size: large;">While on the phone with Thomas the tech, I yelled to Dennis something about how I hoped we wouldn't be late to church. Thomas must have heard that, because about 10 min later when the alarm was finally silenced, this was our conversation:</span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">Thomas: <span style="color: #2b00fe;">So do you go to church? </span></span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">Me: Yes</span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">T: <span style="color: #2b00fe;">Are you Catholic?</span></span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">Me: No</span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">T: <span style="color: #2b00fe;">You aren’t Catholic?</span></span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">M: No. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. </span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">T: <span style="color: #2b00fe;">mmm</span> <i>(or some such sound)</i></span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">M: Have you ever heard of our church?</span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">T: <span style="color: #2b00fe;">N</span><span style="color: #2b00fe;">o ...</span></span><span style="font-size: large;"><i>(pause...)</i> </span><span style="color: #2b00fe; font-size: large;">So do you believe in Jesus Christ?’</span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">M: Yes I do.</span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">T: <span style="color: #2b00fe;">Is that the same God the Catholics believe in?</span></span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">M: Yes</span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">T: <span style="color: #2b00fe;">So it’s the same God Catholics believe in?</span> <i> (like he wanted to make sure he heard it right)</i></span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">M: Yes it is</span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">T: <span style="color: #2b00fe;">The same one...oh okay</span></span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">I regret that I didn't ask, <i>“So do you believe in Jesus Christ?”</i><br />I really blew it because it dropped right then, and we were back talking about my alarm. </span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">It wasn’t until he got our alarm fixed and we were off the phone that I thought to myself, </span></p><p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><i>WHY didn't I ask him about his beliefs? </i></span></p><p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><br /></p><p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">Only looking back did I realize he <i><b>wanted</b></i> to talk about Jesus Christ. I could feel it. I would have loved that. My brain just does not process things as quickly as it use to, and especially not while under stress. </span></p><p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">I think he wanted to talk about it. Perhaps he was searching as so many people are now. </span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">So why am I bringing this up? Mostly for myself, so I will hopefully be more in tune next time this should happen. But also for you. People out there are hurting, and searching.</span></p><p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;"> </span></p>
<p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;">We all need Jesus Christ. He is our best friend, or He could be if we want Him to be. He is the Savior of the world. </span></p><p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue;">You don't have to have any special prayers. Just talk to Him like he is sitting right there with you. If you are sincere, I promise He will be listening. Keep trying. Keep praying. </span></span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue;"><br /></span></span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue;">I can't tell Thomas. I will most likely never hear from him again. So I'm telling you. ❤️</span></span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue;"><br /></span></span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue;"><br /></span></span></p><p style="font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: Helvetica Neue;"></span></span></p><p style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-size: medium;"><b>“When love of Christ envelops our lives, we approach disagreements with meekness, patience, and kindness.
