Our stake president couldn't get this off his mind

Last night at Stake Conference our stake president said he couldn't
get a hymn off his mind. He said he'd been thinking about it every
day since he'd heard it over a month ago.

It's not found in our hymn book since it's from another church,
and it's called "Take Time to Be Holy."

In our Faith we believe in seeking good where ever we can find it
(as I'm sure many people do). That's why I love so much the last
sentence from our 13th Article of faith:

13 "...If there is anything virtuouslovely, or of good report or praiseworthy,
we seek after these things."

So after finding this hymn on Youtube I discovered that I'd heard
it in past General Conferences but never paid
attention to the words before. They tell a story to me now.

Take Time to Be Holy[1]

1           Take time to be holy,
Speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always,
And feed on His Word:
Make friends of God’s children,
Help those who are weak;
Forgetting in nothing
His blessing to seek.
2           Take time to be holy,
The world rushes in;
Spend much time in secret
With Jesus alone:
By looking to Jesus
Like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct
His likeness shall see.
3           Take time to be holy,
Let Him be thy guide,
And run not before Him
Whatever betide;
In joy or in sorrow
Still follow thy Lord,
And looking to Jesus,
Still trust in His Word.
4           Take time to be holy,
Be calm in thy soul;
Each thought and each motive
Beneath His control;
Thus led by His Spirit
To fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted
For service above.

Nearly two years ago, this same Stake President talked about THIS
SONG in his talk. Not a hymn, and every simple words, but it's
perfect and I've never been able to get enough of it.

I do a great deal of playing piano in churches and this is one of my favorites. Written years ago but still very relative in this day. We sing it to a different tune than the one in the video...and to the tune in the video we sing a song called "Be Thou My Vision" or "Lord of all Hopefulness."

Very interesting Peggy. Do you know if there is a video or recording I could hear of the tune you are use to hearing this song to?

I found Be Thou My Vision on youtube. I'd never heard of it. It feels like old gospel music from years ago. It's beautiful!
