Bed update

Time will tell. But for now, it seems Dennis has figured out a
solution to our new bed buying decision:

I don't know if you can see this or not, but Den put 2 pieces of particle board
between the box springs and the mattress, on his side of the bed.
Total cost: $18.

We have slept on it this way for 2 nights so far and he's happy.
I've always been happy, so now that makes 2 of us.

This also fits in nicely with the motto we try to live by since we
got married, "Why spend money if we don't have to."
(mostly his motto)

Thank you for your suggestions!
I checked them all out and when we go back to the bed drawing board someday,
I hope to remember them.

So what was the problem, and how does that fix it? I am interested because we are long overdue for a new bed but would like to still live on the cheap if possible. Also...sorry, what did he do?

Hi Tyler…It all depends on the symptoms of your bed. Den's side sagged in the middle making it uncomfortable for him to sleep. So he bought 4 pieces of particle board aprox 30 inches by 12 inches and stacked 2 on top of each other. Then he lifted up his side of the mattress and I slipped them in, side by side so it covered mostly the area where his torso would be laying. He can explain better if you are interested.

One of our relatives did this even cheaper. She used her outdated collection of magazines.

It's probably a temporary fix, at best.

My parents finally gave in and got one of those adjustable beds where you can raise the head and legs and got a different level of firmness for each side, since they have long battled the issue of preferring different firmness. It has paid for itself, if only in the number of times Jack has played "Taco Bed" with it (he has me lie down on the bed, raises the feet and head, and covers me with pillows). Most comfortable game, ever, and it keeps him entertained for at least an hour, if not longer.
But they do enjoy the bed and are much more comfortable.

Hahahahahahahahahaha. I love the idea of "Taco Bed." Please have Jack teach Richie this game.

Heidi, that game sounds amazing. Please tell Jack I am open to trying this out.

Good job Dennis.

In my mind a good nights sleep affects everything in your health and can also add to your quality of life. I think Dennis is right, this is a temporary fix at best. I am willing to spend more to have a good mattress. My grandparents had separate twin beds. Maybe getting separate twin beds would be a solution. You can always slide the twin beds together to form a King bed.

Your experience just confirms bed makers have lost their spring! Your friend who posted the cheaper solution cracked me up!
