What do people eat for breakfast?

I admit I have an out of norm curiosity about what people eat. If there is one question I could ask
strangers that would be it. I watch what others buy at the grocery store too but try not to be obvious
about it. But I am even more wanting to know what they are going to do with that food once they bring
it home.

So when someone sent me this video showing what people eat for breakfast across the world, well…
this is my kind of entertainment.

I've decided I like Mexico's breakfast the best…although I've never had that particular combination…
yet. And since I love my oatmeal every morning, I'd like to try Mexico's breakfast for dinner sometime.

I would starve if I had to wake up in Italy. Nothing but carbs.

Very interesting. Thank goodness I live in the United States of America!!! I have no idea what some of those foods are.
Are you doing a survey of your blog family/friends? If so, I can eat any type of food any time of the day. My menus have no clock attached!
As a grocery store cashier, I occasionally ask customers how they plan to prepare some of the foods they purchase. It gives me fresh ideas for meals, as well as new foods to at least try.

A lot of what I eat depends on whether I think it is a "breakfast" food or a "lunch and dinner food" or a certain combination of things. I couldn't eat beans for breakfast or definitely not tomatoes. Those I associate with lunch or dinner. A combination of what I see my children and grandchildren eat is pizza with milk to drink. To me, that is a strange combination but to them that is normal. I know, I'm weird about things like that.

Jill - I often have Huevos Rancheros for breakfast on the weekends (I have oatmeal and sometimes also fruit or a hard boiled egg on weekdays). I poach two eggs and place each on a warmed, corn tortilla. I top with salsa and a little sour cream. I usually have my beans (refried) on the side. Half a cara cara orange and some coffee to round it out. Delicious!

I think you can even order it at El Matador...

I wish that could be a little slower. I wanted to really look carefully at everything and couldn't.
What do I eat? A smoothie.

I stopped and started it a lot so I could study it. But I wonder about the US breakfast….do you think very many people actually eat that way every morning?

Hey, Jill, I was looking for the video you posted a while back about Clovis High School. Where is it? I wanted to show my dad.

Yeah, that one. I'm impressed with that school!
I always considered pancakes, bacon, and eggs and orange juice to be Sunday breakfast. Special.

I think Heidi needs to come cook breakfast for me. That sounds yummy!
But I eat some variation of the same thing every day for breakfast. And if I don't, I get hungrier sooner!
Every morning I eat some mixture of cereals (like Multi-Grain Cheerios and Rice Krispies) with frozen blueberries and cinnamon on top (with skim milk). I mix up the cereals now and then for something new, but even then, the cereals stay pretty basic.
But really, the best part is the frozen blueberries. They make the milk so nice and cold.

Rich's breakfast on the other hand varies widely. Some days he wants pancakes, other days he wants eggs. Occasionally he'll eat cereal and milk. Or sometimes just a slice of bread suits his fancy. But he always has to have apple juice.

Leo of course, nurses, but he also shares my cereal or whatever Rich is having--if Rich will share.

Tyler has a chocolate muffin every weekday morning. I figure, if he's getting up at 4:30 in the morning, he can eat whatever he wants. (I know if I had to get up that early, I'd need some kind of treat to keep me going.)

Hope I didn't overshare here.

We have that Mexican breakfast 3 times a year, General Conference Sundays and Christmas morning...huevos rancheros. Delicioso! Stop by and I'll make you one.

If I could spend my life making breakfast (but never having to wake up early) I would be a VERY happy lady. Special occasions get homemade cinnamon rolls or biscuits and gravy (with eggs and bacon).
The morning of my wedding, I had my mom make me the same chocolate pancakes she made for me every weekend growing up. It was amazing and very nostalgic.

Eggs, oatmeal, cottage cheese…among a few.

This is so fascinating because I am truly obsessed with food. I eat 2 scrambled eggs and some fruit for breakfast during the week. On Sunday I eat gluten free pancakes, bacon and one scrambled egg. Eggs just seem to sustain me. For lunch I take a green drink to work and snack on almonds and celery. Most of the time I eat soup for dinner, because I'm too tired and lazy to fix a real dinner.

It's all in the genes, right Kathy? We are both foodies!

Heidi…SO sweet how your Mom made you chocolate pancakes on your wedding day. :)

Sue…Really? Cottage cheese for breakfast?
