Fascinates me.
Notice how Moms take off birthing on July 4-5th?
I think that's because many births are scheduled now. But what about back in the day?
I don't think the holidays would have made much difference.
Babies use to just come when they wanted to.
Also, I never knew July-Sept are such popular months to be born in. I wonder why that is?
Sept 16th the most common birthday ever?
Interesting, because I have 2 siblings born that week...the 12th (today) and the 18th.
So apparently my parents were right on schedule with the rest of the world.
January and April aren't all that popular. Why?
And look how everyone takes Christmas week off.

Looks like mine is not that hot a b-day. (May 31)
=)
It would be interesting to see a graph year by year.

I know, that's what I was thinking Darlene...I wish they would print it year by year. I think that would be much more interesting!
The article really doesn't say what year this was taken from. From the looks of it, I suspect it is more a graph of one recent year of births. When we were growing up, I think the holidays would be more evenly distributed.
So if lots of babies are born in September, that means the holidays are a particularly romantic time of year, right? :-)
Jared and I have the same birthday, June 18. It seems to be somewhere in the middle as far as popularity goes.
This kind of thing fascinates me too. A lot of people say that most babies are born during the week now because inductions are so popular, and in particular Tuesday is the most popular day. I think it's funny though because I had my babies Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, no weekend babies. Only one was induced (the one born on Wednesday, although the induction was started on Tuesday).
My birthday (April 23) was not a very popular one it seems. However, I always thought it was pretty good because Shirley Temple was born on my birthday. She is a year younger that I am. I always enjoyed having my birthday in the spring.
This is really interesting!
It looks like babies don't want to be born during Thanksgiving week either.
None of us are too original in this house, we mostly have hot birth dates. Megan is our most original on Feb. 9th but it still looks fairly busy. Valentine's day is a hot date for births...I'm glad I don't have to have birthday celebrations on that day. :)
Even though September is a very popular birth month, I am still glad I was born in it. :)
I have always thought no one else was born on my birthday but me. (Sept 30) I guess I am not alone.
I've always thought December was the most popular month, so I'm surprised by the summer months.
I wonder if the shading is off a little? Because the opening paragraph says that Feb 29 is the least common, but its box is darker than, say, July 4.
I did the math for the most popular day to be born, Sept 16th, and theoretically all those babies were conceived during Christmas week. Sept is a wildly popular month to be born.
If you take the birthdays from just my family (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc included), it would look almost exactly like this. Funny how that works! I think the birthdays for everyone in my department at work are distributed like this, as well. There are 15 of us and 6 of us are Libras with birthdays in late Sept/early October.
We are coming to visit my parents next weekend, simply because it was the only weekend between now and Thanksgiving where we aren't going to a birthday party or travelling! So many September and October birthdays among our friends and family (myself and my mother included)!
And then there's me Heidi. I gave birth to all my sons between Dec-April....the slow period according to that chart. I guess some families are in sync (like yours!) and some aren't.
