The transition room

Ever wonder what a transition room at a Rehab hospital looks like?
I have. And today I found out. It's the only one at this large Rehab hospital.
The couch folds out to a bed for Susan.

To the left that is Dad's bed, and also his lift that Susan is learning to use on him.
I haven't actually seen it in use but here's more of a closeup
I know. Makes no sense to me either. But Susan says it's amazing.

Their kitchen seems a bit large for something that will be used only a few days before they go home.
But I think they use it during his occupational therapy to teach him how to function in a kitchen again.

Their little dining area.

And by his bed, his children.

Their friend, Jan Thomas, stopped by so we all had lunch together.

And look who else came by....my brother, Scott!
We got into quite the lively discussion about the movie 2016 Obama's America.
Some say it will be known as the greatest documentary of all time.
If you haven't seen it, GO.
It really helped me to understand Obama's thinking.

And then suddenly Scott spots his old friend from high school, Joel Hensley, who is a PT at the Rehab.
Dad's timer goes off every 30 minutes, even during lunch.
Time to change his pressure points.

And if you are wondering what Dad gets for lunch. Here's today's entree.
I really wanted his green beans but I was polite and didn't ask for them.
His food looks good to me, but I know their new home will have even better food.

Something tells me they will love it there.
And Blacky gets to go, too!

Their new home looks amazing! I am looking forward to finding out more about it.

And what a good wife Susan is. I'm sure your dad feels very blessed to have someone like her taking such good care of him.

That transition room isn't too shabby, either. (I wouldn't mind staying there.)

Except for the fat-free milk, that looks like a decent lunch! (I'm on a full-fat diet these days. "Full fat is where it's at!") (Weston Price is the source of the reasoning behind that idea.)
Say, Jill, can you guys get raw milk products anywhere up there?

Darlene, I have not seen raw milk around here in years. Perhaps one can only get it through private farms? I'm not sure. Can you buy it there?

Those lifts are wonderful! That was what they used with my sister for about the last year of her life since she wasn't able to move. The transition room looks very nice. Is the picture of the outside of the building where your dad is now or where he is going to be?

When I worked at a nursing home we used lifts like that on several of the residents. They are time consuming to use but really helped save our backs and keep the patients safe!

Is their new home in an assisted living home? I must have missed when you posted about it. It looks nice!!

Heather, It's not really an assisted living facility but they can get their own help to go with it.

And yes GrandmaPeg that is the home they will be moving into. Isn't it pretty?

GH we used to have raw milk delivered by the MILKMAN! Fancy that! Alta Dena Dairy, I believe it was. It's just a matter of time before it's available again. Consumers are going to start demanding it. (Weston Price again.)

You can get raw milk from Organic Pastures which is a farm west of Fresno. They sell at the Sat. farmers market in front of Kristina's natural foods market and have been at the Clovis farmer's market but not sure if they still are.

What is the name of this place, Jill? It look familiar? Is it in Clovis? Hmmm. I've seen it somewhere.

Yes Natalie, in Clovis, at Shaw and Fowler. I'm sure you've seen it since you have been in town since it was built. Right across from the old Albertsons where you use to work. Yosemite Gardens.
