1958
Mom with half of her children.
John, Robin, Richard, Jill
The other 4 came later.
I found a talk my mother gave back in 1982 on motherhood.
Not sure who exactly she was speaking to...
perhaps a stake Relief Society gathering?
But these 2 sentences really stood out to me:
"All of the seemingly unimportant things we do each day
like teaching, listening, guiding, cooking, cleaning up after,
rocking, reading to, and on and on
are really very, very important.
It is evident when children grow up
without this love and attention."

Beautiful post Jill. Your mom is an awesome lady. So are you. Have a great day.
I love how you love and honor your mother, Jill.
As a friend being privie to your mothering of your 4 boys, I can say that you, too, were an amazing mother, and you have made the world a better place due to all your loving efforts over the years.

thanks for this special blog Jill. I think the second picture was for our 50th anniversary.
Love, Dad
LOVE the pictures! I am one of the fortunate ones who still have her Mother in this life.
Happy Mother's Day, Jill.
I love the thought by Robert Brault because it is so true! And I also love the statement of yours about enjoying your mother while she's still with you. That is indeed good advice.
1958...that was the same year our Ward Teacher, Ernie Weeks, told our parents it probably wasn't such a good idea to stop at Jet Drive-in on the way home from Church Sunday nights to buy a dozen glazed donuts. John told him to mind his own business (already playing the lawyer role) but once Mom got the idea in her head, that was it. Our new tradition became grilled cheese and tomato soup...and a trip to Aunt Leonie's to watch Sunday night Disney in color. They lived on Van Ness, had color TV, and a live in black maid named Jemima...apparently very well to do. It must have been like the Clampett's visiting when we came over.
Jill, I always love when you do blogs about your mom. I admire her greatly because I've seen the fruits of her labors in her children and grandchildren. Always get a chuckle out of Jethro's comments! Love, Susan
Love that quote by Bob Brault.
Happy Mother's Day, Jill. You are a fine one!
=)
I'm glad I revisited this post to read the comments because I got my laugh for the day with Richard's comment. I love his sense of humor!!! By the way, I love your puffy dress when you were a child because it reminded me of some of my dresses.
This is the first time I realized that YOU DO LOOK LIKE your MOM! That picture where you're standing in front of her. She LOOKS like YOU now! BEAUTIFUL POST!
PS: I was in Portland & Seattle this weekend. Thought of you & the McK's! It's gorgeous there & the Temple is so BEAUTIFUL. You will LOVE IT! Have FUN!
