It occurs to me that older mothers might "get" this better than young mothers or women without children. The gravity and importance of the job becomes clearer the older we get, in my experience. And what mom who has raised up her child to adulthood hasn't felt those feelings of pride in every accomplishment of their offspring... no matter how small. She knows her child so well. darlene
