Are you coughing?

I tend to have this cough at night when the air pollution is bad around here. After coughing most of one night about a week ago, I suddenly remembered a remedy I had tried before and it worked. So I looked it up again the next morning.

I found this 4 years ago, not sure where, but I printed it and kept it should I need it someday:



It takes affect almost immediately and lasts for hours. At least for me it does. It may not work for your cough, but so far it's always taken mine right away. A little vial of it costs me just $7.99 at the health food store. I just put 5 little pellets under my tongue. I keep it by my bed and take it when the coughing starts, about 2 am. Nips it right in the bud, as they say.

At least so far it has. I hope I'm not jinxing myself by writing about it.

When you have a cough like that you'd try anything! I'm glad that works! I'll have to keep that in mind.

Always love the "gems" you find! I just read alot about the benefits of barley! Apparently making a drink with roasted barley or not is good for those who have bronchitis & asthma. We are surrounded by so many great resources! Thx for this post! I'm going to pass it along to my sil's who seem to battle w/ coughing children. : )

That is so odd that you would mention the roasted barley Lisa. We have a bag of it in our kitchen and don't know what to do with it. Den and I use to have a bowl of cooked barley every morning for breakfast until the company we bought it from went out of business. So in his search to find a replacement, Dennis ordered this roasted barley....but that does not work well for cereal. So do I just put it in a smoothie? Or blend it with water and drink it?

I am curious a out the roasted barley as well. Hannah and I both have asthma and this would be good to know. Also, Jill, thank you for your comment on my blog the other day. You know how to makea person feeel so good!

You can put the barley in soup, or grind it up in blender to make flour for bread or to sprinkle on food. For a cough, apple cider vinegar/lemon and honey also work well.
