Téa's obsession

It all started 5 days ago.

Our 2 year old granddaughter was visiting and spotted a "Belle" toothbrush
in our bathroom that she just HAD to have.

I gave it to her not knowing it would become her constant buddy going everywhere with her.
To say Téa was attached to that toothbrush just doesn't describe.
She would sob and sob if she momentarily lost it...
like when she accidentally left it at Panda Express and Amy had to drive back to retrieve it.

I wonder how it went when she took toothbrush to church yesterday.

Keep in mind these are not posed pictures. This is her every day life.

I worried that she would fall and choke on it, not to mention the germs she was continually ingesting.
(Yes, her brother is still wearing his Halloween costume.)

Finally I thought of a plan.
We would buy her a "Belle" replacement, wrap it as a gift,  and present it as a trade.
Dennis said no to the first gift idea...
"You'd be saving Téa from her toothbrush only to have her choke on Belle's top!"

Then I saw this and thought, PERFECT.
Den disagreed, "It'll never work. She'll never give up that toothbrush."
I told him,  "Have confidence in me, I know how to work 2 year olds."

So I wrapped up the Belle phone and brought it over last night.

I presented my plan. She thought for a few seconds and then she AGREED.

She tore into her gift.

It was love at first sight.

Could she really live without her Belle toothbrush??
(that was never really hers, by the way....I don't know who it originally belonged to!)
Den and I are both wondering how it went last night after we left.

btw, If you are missing a Belle toothbrush let me know and I will buy you a new one.

Today I am off to solve a new problem (another one that I created).
What was I thinking?....doesn't every Grandma know you can't bring a present to one child
and not bring something for her twin brother?
So today I will be on the hunt for a Woody cell phone.
I hope one exists.

I love challenges so I looked and found this.

Unfortunately the only Woody Cell Phone is a charm that is 1.5 inches long. Or a $20 talk and play Woody Phone at Toys R US.
Hope this helps!

BTW, I didn't loose MY Belle toothbrush...lol

Merry Christmas!

Too cute! Is anyone concerned about Woody climbing atop the oven hood (or was that the sink?) Actually, I saw nothing wrong with her just keeping the toothbrush, but obviously it was bothering you. The kids are darling and I can tell they are keeping Amy busy busy busy. Love, Dad and Susan

Thank you Rhonda! I am getting ready to leave on my hunt now, so you saved me some time. I'm tempted to just get that $20.one at Toys R Us but then Téa suddenly would want his. Maybe I should just get him a Belle phone. Not sure how his Dad would feel about that.

Oh, that is so something Clara would do! This reminds me, where did you get the paint with water books for the twins a couple months ago? I know you said it was tough to find them, and you weren't kidding, I've looked everywhere!

Julie~ I found one at Target. But later on I found stacks of them at the 99cent store. So maybe a Dollar store would have them.

Susan~ As a Grandma, I don't like him climbing on the oven hood either. But as a Mom, I use to let my kids climb on just about anything.

LOL. Her expressions are adorable! Well, I bet you'll never make that mistake again! GOOD LUCK.

That is just so funny. I have never heard of anyone getting attached to a toothbrush! Funny funny pictures too. Tea is so darling. I don't think I would worry too much. She is bound to give it up on her own. I'm wondering if she did make the trade. I have never heard of "Belle" anything, so that shows you how far away I am from the cute current toys.

This is a cute post. John especially liked it since it had to do with a toothbrush. As a mom, personally, I would never have gone back to Panda to get it and just explain that it was gone.....cute pictures. I was concerned with Woddy climbing too, but sounds like he knows what he is doing.

Aren't kids funny? They latch on to the oddest things. Hope your ruse works long term!

Jill,
The toothbrush is/was Cami's! If there is ever anything laying around with Belle on it there is a good chance it is hers, she worships Belle! Oh and I bet the disney store in FF mall would have the phone you are looking for

What? The Belle toothbrush is not Richard's? Shocker.
I'm waiting for him to post something about giving gifts to the older siblings, not just the twins.

Well I didn't exactly "give" the toothbrush to Téa. She insisted and I caved. Then I bribed her with a gift to get it back. Jonas' 2 year old mind didn't understand so we tried to make it right. The older siblings understand. They are all amazingly good with the babies. Real sweethearts, every one of them. But since they are older, I have to be more careful what I post on Grandma's blog.

SO cute! I loved this story! We can't wait to see Jonas and Tea over Christmas! And I think replacing it with a Belle cell phone was genius.

Téa sure does seem obsessed with the toothbrush. It's funny how these little ones can get so attached to something. On a lighter note, is that a bib that Dennis is wearing in the video clip?

Grandma Honey said...

No Peggy, Dennis is not wearing a bib. We're not that old. :) He is wearing his white church shirt under his coat...it was Sunday.

Look what happened last night

Just a little pre-graduating gathering for our DIL Amy.... Not everyday a Mom of 7 and a Grandma of 7, graduates from college. It was not ...
