Toddler Harnesses and the Rozier Easter Party 2011

I will explain first so you won't think I'm a mean Grandma.

Since the yard was so huge and the pool unfenced
(my brother and his wife don't have small children),
Friday night Dennis and I bought harnesses for the twins.
We didn't have high hopes they would work for the Saturday party,
but it was worth a try.
What surprised me is they actually have so much more freedom with them on.
They choose where ever they want to go,
rather than us trying to hold their hands and guide them.

See how happy and grown up and 'free' Jonas is walking?

They had their hands free to pick up Easter Eggs
or pet the dogs (which were all unleashed).
See how independent and free they can be?
No one saying, "Come back" or "You have to hold my hand."

Jonas was even able to play a game of tennis. Okay, not really.

Téa was able to stop by Jason (Hailey's Dad) and shake his hand.

See the picture below?
Good thing they were attached to me while I was hugging Hailey...
see the way Jonas is eyeing that pool??

But as they say, there is a fly in every ointment...
so I have to show you this short clip...

In other words, it's not a perfect solution but I love it.
Now I can take them for walks around our neighborhood, and even to the mall!

Okay, so I try not to make really long posts, but I want to show pictures of the party for those who are interested.
Btw, the day was absolutely wonderful.
Except for missing so many who could not be with us.

No words, just pictures.

We are looking forward to seeing Jason and Hailey again
when they come back for Lindsay's reception in June!

Oh sorry, one more thing...
My DIL Amy does this every time she makes mashed potatoes.
She knows I'm allergic to dairy.
So she always takes a portion out for me before she adds the milk and sour cream!
And I feel her love every time I eat it.

Thanks for posting so many cute pictures Auntie Jill! I have so many happy memories of the Rozier family Easter party. I just can't believe how old all of the cousins are- I can't wait to see everyone in June!

What a fun party. Wish I could have been there. I was cracking up when Tea saw the open eggs on the ground that she had thrown there. Classic.
I don't think you are a mean grandma at all for buying those harnesses.

I'm happy the harnesses worked for you. My grandkids don't last too long in them but they are a lifesaver! How many people were at your family party? They must have all come for the food because it looks delicious!

I didn't count, but for our family, I think it was on the small side.

Well so far the twins love the harnesses. Amy said Jonas insisted on taking his to church with him today. He didn't wear it, but pulled it like it was his pet. And tonight when they came over Jonas wanted it put on so I would take him for a walk!

this is so cute. Maybe I should get one of those leashes for Stockton! He really dislikes holding my hand, he wants to explore on his own!!!

Jill, I've been catching up here and I don't want to leave too long of a comment because I think they don't get accepted, so I'll try to keep this short.

I'm guilty of very longs posts, but this one of yours was not long at all, I loved every word and every picture! The twins are adorable and I loved seeing your family Easter gathering!

I also loved the Easter video (and it went along so nicely with the Funeral message), I'm going to listen to it again and copy down some of the message to send to my brother-in-law who is going through a tough time right now.

I'm looking forward to seeing Kim & Kris on Rachel Ray tomorrow! And I enjoyed seeing the pictures of their family vacation. It was great!

So disappointed the video of the twins would not play for me, but I'm going to keep trying throughout the day.

'Hope this comment goes through this time.
Love and Prayers,
Eileen

Actually there are 2 pictures showing an unleashed dog. I didn't see them at first either.

Tyler and I were cracking up over how cute Téa is. We love her name for Dennis, too.

Looks like the party was a blast!

"Ohhhhh no!" She is so cute! Pools and other unfenced bodies of water scare me so much, we will never buy a house with a pool or near a pond/lake, at least not while we have little ones! You are so smart to buy the backpack harnesses, Jonas and Tea don't seem to mind them at all and they have a lot of freedom with them!

The twins are so GROWN UP! Talking & Waling & all sorts of cool stuff! The harnesses have come along ways from my days. I had wrist leashes but they were not so good.

So nice to see a WONDERFUL FAMILY gathering!

Those toddler harnesses are AWESOME!!!! We got one for Rachel when we took our family on that Disney cruise. I didn't care how silly I looked or what people thought...I knew that our girl would be A-OK. That peace of mind was worth everything. I would have definitely done the same...especially around the pool!
