Pretzel Turtle Cookies

Easy to make, and so fun.

I learned this from my niece Julie's blog. Even borrowed her picture.
Now really, wouldn't you like to have some of these?

First here's what you need:
(Be sure and get the Mini pretzels, not regular size.)

Julie's directions:
"Preheat your oven to 200. Line a cookie sheet with foil. Lay out 40 pretzels in a single layer. Top each pretzel with a Rolo. "Bake" for 5 minutes at 200 degrees. They will be glossy ad soft but still retain their shape.
Press a pecan into each Rolo. Work quickly or the caramel will begin to harden. Let the "turtles" harden in the fridge. Enjoy!"

Last week, I had my grandgirls over and we all made these together.

Elora, Macie, and Laurynn unwrapping the Rolos.

Laurynn taking them out of the oven after their 5 minutes in at 200'

The girls pressing a pecan into each warm Rolo.

I had a CUTE video of them tasting and reviewing the turtles, but I accidentally deleted it!!
But I will tell you the verdict:  They all LOVED them.

Thank you Julie!  Go here to see her great cooking blog.

Heather~ You see these cookies around there? Do you think it's because Julie is in your ward and some of your mutual friends read her blog? I still think it's so bizarre that McKay's cousin and husband would coincidentally be in the same ward in Colorado with McKenna's brother and sister in law.

You are an amazing grandma! Not just for making cookies with your granddaughters, but for taking pictures and then making a blog about it! I admire you so much.

I saw this recipe on her site when it first came out and was so impressed with the simplicity. I talked to Richard about using it for Christmas treats for VT and Home Teaching families.

Thanks for the additional reminder. I've tried several of Julie's recipes and have really liked them.

She is a good down home cook! Don't we often marvel at her mother's exceptional cooking talent? I wonder if there's a connection!

Jill--I'm glad your girls liked them. They are so fun and easy!

Heather--I ate the whole batch. Don't make them unless you have plans to give them away pronto! Or just share them with your kids and call it a good day.

Susan--There is definitely a connection. I wouldn't know anything about the kitchen if it weren't for my mom.

Jill, I've actually not seen these in Aurora, just seen them on Julie's blog, some other cooking blogs I follow, and now yours. Although Julie's blog IS super popular among the ladies in our ward. You should have seen how fast her "Boston Cream Cupcakes" were eaten at our RS activity on Friday!!!

Now that's a cookie I can get my teeth into. I adore Rolos! I'm trying to avoid sugar and you are making this very hard for me!
