I'm now on Google Reader!

Thanks to some help from my FRIENDS....I am now on.  So please put me on your list, if it's more convenient for you.  Not sure how long I will have the courage to be on Google Reader, but I'm giving it a try.

This was my note earlier:
I never wanted to before, because it just seemed so public that way.  But I realize now it is so much more convenient...and really no more public than any other open blog.

But where do I go to sign up?  I can't figure it out.  Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Really, I have been searching most of this morning, and now I give up.

If I remember correctly...

You go to your dashboard, then settings, then site feed. Under this category, the first thing on the list is Allow Blog Feeds and it will give you three options: None, Short, and Full. I'm guessing you have yours set on None at the moment. If not, then I don't know what else to tell you. If so, then click on Full if you want your full post to appear in Google Reader, Short if you want just the title of your post and the first few lines to appear. Good luck! And thanks for your vote!

Thank you Natalie! I don't know why I couldn't figure this out. I just kept going around in circles. I have just 2 more questions, and I hope if you don't see this, that someone else will..

1. What is 'blog comment feed' and 'per post comment feed' and do I want those?

2. Why do some people want the short blog feed and others want the full blog feed?

I can answer your second question. Some blogs are monetized and they earn money per click. Thus if it is a short feed you must click again to see the entire post and they earn a bit more.

1. I have them on the both on the "full" setting, but I honestly have no idea what they do. I had never clicked on the advanced button before you brought it up, so I don't know if they really make a difference.

2.Short feeds make it so that people have to actually come to your site if they want to read your full post. If people are interested in hits per day and tracking who is interested in what they are writing, they may choose "short" to ensure they are getting this information, as those who subscribe on reader are anonymous.

I did the short version for a while, but switched back. I have found that if people have something to say about a post, they'll still come and make a comment (I actually get more comments when the full version is up) and it just makes it easier for your readers to have the full version.

Hope this helps! Have a great weekend!
