40 splinters

And Hailey is only 5 years old.

She is at Family Camp with lots of the extended Rozier family. It's where we have been going every summer since the early 1960s.

Her grandparents, Richard and Wendy (aka Papa and Chickie) have been sleeping each night at our house, and then driving up most every day this week to be with Hailey.

As you will see from the pictures below, taken just today, she is happy.
However, those splinters had to come out.

Icing up, getting ready
See Chandler sitting right by her, coaxing her along.
How sweet is that!
He's still encouraging her on.
Papa sitting beside her while Nurse Melinda takes them out.

Oh it looks like they are being successful! What a brave girl.

Hailey showing the splinters that are out of her hand and onto her shirt

I think she deserves a crown.

Back with her "cousins", McKenzie, Tess, and Laurynn
Looking back...
Here is Hailey's mom at Family Camp 28 years ago, (with my son Brock)More Family Camp pictures tomorrow.

Jill, We love these pictures. I have many of the same on my camera. It was so fun at Family Camp. Hailey was the eternal optimist and so loving. We had such a great time there. Many hours spent down under the bridge dangling our feet in the creek--the water is so warm. The bubbling brook sound is my favorite. We got home Wednesday night at 10:00 p.m. Very tired but very happy. Love, Dad and Susan

Great post!
But how did Hailey get all those splinters? What a brave girl! And such an air of maturity about her!
I loved all the pictures, and Hailey's cousin Laurynn looks like she belongs to the Osmond family too!
All the best,
Eileen

Oh poor thing! Ouch! I can't get over how brave she was through that all. My children "freak out" with just one splinter!

Family camp looks like so much fun!

Hailey sure looks like her mom in that picture when Robin was little! What a brave girl Hailey was with those splinters! It looks like she had a lot of family support. I'm sure she will remember this family camp! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing the Family Camp pictures. Mom told me that they were all up there. Looks like lots of fun. Glad Hailey pulled through okay. She is such a great girl.

The night before when Hailey got the splinters and was appropriately distressed about it a few tribal elders convened, led by nurse Logan, Uncle Dave, and two other alpha males and discussed aloud in front of Hailey a possible plan to "wrap her in a blanket like a papoose, hold her down, and get those splinters out right away!" Nurse Mel weighed in that she thought they could wait overnight until Hailey was calmed down and take a more rational approach. Hailey heard all this and chipped in, "I like her plan better." So that is what they did. Richard on Jill's computer

Thank you, thank you for the update, I've been wanting to know how she's doing, and regardless of the splinters it looks like she's having a great time.

I can't remember exactly how she got the splinters....does anyone know? I think it was something about falling on a wood bench and bracing herself with her hand?

Jill, how come you and Dennis didn't go?

The only thing that keeps me away is the altitude. I can't go up that high and still breath right.

That Hailey is ONE very BEAUTIFUL girl. She sure handled those splinters like a champ. Great to see that there are plenty of "qualified" medics in the family!

There's nothing like good ol' fashion camping with the family Too bad you suffer with altitude sickness. I have that problem too Oh well...it looks like you're kept in the stream of things! Great post. That last pic sure was cute.
