No wonder our perception of beauty is distorted

Wow. I wish I could do that every morning. Ha Ha.

That is really sad how our society is obessed with this.

Remember when Twiggy was the hottest thing? If I'd been born in the days of Mae West I'd have been considered gorgeous, but instead I grew up thinking I was grotesquely fat because Twiggy was the standard of the sixties. Bummer...And the media still does this to our daughters!

I LOVED Mary's comment and I agree wholeheartedly with it!
I've actually been both Twiggy and Mae West (I was a skinny bean pole as a teen and early twenties), now I'm more like Mae West or one of Ruben's paintings.
Neither shape made me exceptionally happy.
I don't dwell so much on the 'outside' of me anymore anyway.

This was a great post!

Still praying for you to find what is lost.
Keep us updated.
All the best, Eileen

Mary is so right...media does this to our daughters and it's starting to damage the esteem of girls as young as elementary school age. That is sad. If only the media would focus on the "inner" beauty of people. Thanks for sharing this. It is a reminder to us that we as mothers and grandmothers need to reinforce in our daughters, granddaughters, and all young women that inner beauty is what counts the most.

When I was in high school, I went to the beach with a guy. When he saw me in my swim suit he said, "How come you look like THAT?" I was slim with curves, while the other girls were stick-straight. I thought he was stupid--never saw him again! I am different, but not in a bad way. I wish more girls (women?) would just accept the way they look--as God created them!

That makes me sad. I hope my daughter can feel beautiful just the way she is.

I don't see a real problem with this video. I think it's great that there are ways to refine our looks IF we want to. However, it is sad when women obsess over beauty to the point they lose their priorities & perspective. Certainly there are much more important things in life we can focus on.

Media can only influence so much. If this has been the standard since the sixties, then it's only because it's what sells. Media has no stake in women being unhealthy. "Media" couldn't care less. It's all about the dollar.

I like myself pretty much the way I am, but I must be honest, everything isn't where it used to be and if I had loads of money I might be tempted to nip and tuck a few things, except for the fact that I don't like pain or surgery!

Look what happened last night

Just a little pre-graduating gathering for our DIL Amy.... Not everyday a Mom of 7 and a Grandma of 7, graduates from college. It was not ...
