Some letters are best left unsent

I am working on a goal of organizing my files.  In the process I am finding some interesting things, such as the letter that was obviously never sent, below.  I don't know how old Tyler was when he wrote this, but knowing him as I do, I know he did not mean to offend at all.  This is probably how my grandchildren see me now.

Still, it's better it stayed in my files all these years.

PS  For the record, neither one of Tyler's grandmas ever looked anything like this.

Tyler, do you remember writing this?  Who made the picture?  Your handwriting looks about 1st or 2nd grade but I'm not sure you could draw like that at such a young age.  Just wondering if you know the history behind it, because I don't remember this.

Yes...some letters are best not sent :-) Actually, he is a pretty good artist although I'm not sure a second grader could draw something this good, unless he was drawing, looking at a picture. Perhaps he was a bit older. Also, knowing how my own three sons were when they were young, they were all into trying to draw cartoon characters so Tyler might have been doing that. I will look forward to seeing Tyler's answer.

I love this. Thanks for the laugh. I know Grandma Gaynor NEVER looked liked that. She sort of looks like a cross between Homer and Marge Simpson. I love the comment about the crackers in her hair. Someone needs to call Tyler and have him respond to this.

ha ha! Maybe it's better that it wasn't sent, though I'm sure any grandma would get a kick out of it. Love the townhouse crackers comment! That makes it even funnier.

This is probably one of those times in which McKay or someone else framed me. That drawing is really impressive, I must say, but also hits high on the offensive scale. Between the two grandmas, though, I do remember seeing your mom with curlers in her hair on occasion, but the face and everything is just...hideous.

Come to think of it...this does look like McKay's art. Maybe you should ask him.

But Tyler, remember, you were only 6 or 7 years old. You were never ever offensive to anyone...I could always count on that to be so about you...but when one is little they don't know what is offensive. You may have saw the curlers and just thought...yeah, she looks like Grandma...just very innocently.

This looks like the work of older brothers... can't you just see them telling Tyler to write that on a blank page and then filling in the picture! Tyler as a fellow baby of the family I can completely see how you could have been framed!

Mom would NEVER have been offended by this. She simply chose not to see the world that way. She would have laughed right along with the rest of us. The curlers are very familiar but the collar just doesn't ring a bell - maybe a little artistic liscense there.

I agree with Robin. Mom would have enjoyed it. She would have found the long eyelashes flattering!

Hahaha...your boys are super talented. If you look at the details of that drawing for a 1st grader...? That is some incredible picture! I LOVED IT!

I'm sure he really thought grandma looked like that and frankly...she's a DOLL! Love the smiley teeth & hair like domino effect. I wish I could find funny pictures like this to put on my blog.

Look what happened last night
