Friday in backward steps

Den and I randomly stopped in to see my sister Robin and her family tonight about 8:30.
Remember, this was long past the dinner hour.
But here is her table, already set for tomorrow's dinner!

Robin's wasn't home, so we chatted with Dave....
Everyone loves Dave Shepard.
Notice she even has the vitamins in place...
even the Question Jar so they can have good discussions at the dinner table.
I'm impressed.

And as we were leaving, I noticed this little chair by the entry way.
Doesn't it look like they are awaiting for grandchildren to arrive?
Actually, Dave said this was his chair when he was little.
I think it's adorable.

Before our drop in visit, we were at Katie and Drew's reception.
Beautiful cake, huh?
And who should we see of course?
Steve, McKay's former missionary companion, and former BYU roommate, who married Katie's sister Kristi. Little Jacob is 4 months old now! A very good looking baby.

So fun seeing Megan and Kristi, too.
Megan teaches Jr High English, and Kristi teaches high school, both in Utah.

I guess I am showing this day backwards.
Before the reception, Den and I spent 6 1/2 hours watching this man do a make over with our slider, while I was recovering from my root canal. Den gets every other Friday off now due to the economic crisis.
And my best part of every Friday?
I get to pick up Cam Cam from school in the morning.
Here she is with her classmate Emma.
Well okay, so I didn't take this picture today. But I do get to have her every Friday.
Cami is just as cute every day.

What a cute picture of Cami!

First of all Cam Cam's classmate looks like a cheerful sort and how can a girls day go wrong with that kind of enthusiasm. Cami looks so sweet and calm.

6 1/2 hrs. to fix a slider? That must have been a pain to say the least, but I bet you're glad it's back on track! (get it? hahaha)

The reception looked beautiful & the guest seem HAPPY! I bet it was great to see all those familiar faces and do some "catching up" huh?

Your sister Robin...She needs to come over to my house and give me tips on having an orderly home! She is amazing and the table looks beautiful. The chair reminds me of Covey's brother's mission statement: "No Empty Chairs" Loved that scene and loved her clock! Ask her where I can get one of those. Love it!

Jill, I'm so glad to see you post. I worry when I don't hear from you for a couple of days. Glad you are recovering from your root canal.

Why did Robin set the table for dinner the next night? What about breakfast and lunch? (I'm guessing they use a different table for those meals.) Pretty impressive that she is so organized and future-thinking! I'm imagining she is a great cook, too!

Wonderful post! We missed you, but then remembered you were having a root canal done. Can't wait to see the new doors! Love, Dad and Susan

Sorry you had to have a root canal. Those are lovely aren't they?

I have always been impressed with Robin and that setting the table thing. I also like that she has a table cloth for every season or holiday. She is very cleaver.

I am glad you took a picture of that chair. I have always loved that chair. How come David ended up with it? I thought it was half mine.

As for the clock, Robin probably found it at a garage sale. She is so good at finding things there.

As for David, of course evryone loves him. He is the greatest big brother ever. Because he is so loved, I thought for years that my name was David Shepard's sister.

Darlene,
I just called Robin to ask what they do for breakfast and lunch since the table was set for the next day's dinner. She said they have 3 bar stools they sit at for breakfast, being they eat in shifts (leave at different times, etc) and lunch the kids are at school. If they do end up having a meal together before dinner they will just use the set table.

Robin has many ideas in her home, so I asked her if I can go back and take more pictures. I will post them in a few days.

Yeah!! I am glad you are going back. I love what Robin does with her house. Basically, I just love Robin and anything she does.

I've noticed that leaving the dinner dishes in the sink for an extra day or two (like we do here) doesn't elicit the same admiration as setting the dinner table a day early. I'm concerned about the dust that might be settling on the Shepards dinner plates between meals.

I am eagerly awaiting your post on Robin's house!

It looks like you had a busy Friday! Robin is very organized like you. I'm sure it must run in the family. I love the idea of the question jar!

If you walked into my house you would see the table in the kitchen and the dining room set. Of course I would have to wash the dishes (because of the dust Richard is talking about) if company were to stop by, because I eat my meals in front of the t.v. in the sun room. The set up is just there to impress people like you. L.O.L.
