Jon and Kate plus 8

I'm not much of a TV person, but I do love Jon and Kate Plus Eight.

So naturally when I heard Kate Gosselin wrote a book I pre-ordered a copy. Apparently Dennis ordered one for me also, because 2 books arrived the same day in 2 separate packages. After they arrived I looked at the books and thought...wait a minute, do I really want to read this? What could they say that I don't already know about them? I don't think I've missed one of their programs.

The book was not only entertainment, but it was quite spiritual. I love any story that is about real home life. Real happy home life. I was also intrigued about Kate's parents and Jon's mother...neither of them mentioned on their program. The book however does talk about them, and now I have a better understanding, or at least my own little opinion of what is going on in their family. I read between the lines.

There is just something captivating...relaxing (in that I don't have to live their life, I just get to watch it)....amazing...about watching this family on TV. They have 8 year old twins, and 4 year old sextuplets. How ordinary is that? It's not, that is what keeps us all watching...those of us who do. Yet, still, they are just a happy, regular, normal family in other ways.

The truth is, as odd as this may sound.....I would find it totally entertaining to watch ANY happy family in real life. I remember on my first date with Dennis, he asked me about myself, of course. He asked about my hobbies, what I like to do...that sort of thing. And somewhere in that conversation I told him that if I could do anything I would be a fly on the wall in people's homes. Probably TMI on a first date, but hey, I am who I am.

I guess I'm a people lover.

I'm starting on this one tonight.
I must be on a roll.

Oh. My..Goodness.....! I heard once about this family-maybe from you. What a sight! And Party of Nine? That's pretty amazing. And...a fly on the wall??? That's the funniest thing I've read in a looooong time! You are you and that's why we all love you!

PS: The last post on my blog is referring to that email circulating regarding Pres Packer's so called testimony-where he never once bore his testimony" It went all over the place-unbelievable. Anyhow...that's what that's about & I deleted EVERY thing I quoted him on. I knew it was weird, but it all made so much sense. Lesson learned.

Jill, you have the most interesting blogs. When is the program on Jon and Kate + 8. I run into them being on back to back and at various times. When is the actual scheduled program that isn't a re-run? Also, Lisa referred to the "Elder Packer" testimony(?) being false. I've been trying to get a copy of that because I've been unable to download it for some reason. And now I find out it was false? Oh me oh my. One really can't trust the internet on these things, can one? I bet the books are so interesting on the septuplets. I'd be interested in a book review if that's possible.

We love your blogs. Dad and Susan

The new shows of Jon and Kate Plus 8 are usually on here on Mondays at 6pm on TLC. I tape it and watch it sometime during the week.

Ohhhh. I am the very same. I love learning about the lives of others. It is all so interesting to me to see how others live, what they do for fun, etc. One show I love is "Little People Big World", I don't have cable so I just watch it on my ipod. I watched a whole season almost on my summer trip waiting in airports, etc. I have heard of the plus 8 show.

Let us know if it's worth reading. I'll order it from the library.

The Jon and Kate book IS worth reading, in my opinion. Kate is just very honest, down to earth. She speaks her mind. She is fiercely protective over her children...that comes out on her program and in her book. She is also very high strung..not always a good thing, but I can relate :) If you like family stories you'll enjoy it. The one I am starting tonight, I'm not so sure about.

I love Jon and Kate + 8. It is one of our favorite shows to watch. I will have to get the book to read. I don't think we have ever missed an episode either. She reminds us of ourselves. They are funny and their kids are adoreable.

I love that show...and miss it, we canceled out cable...so sad, that is one I still wish I could watch..I am also fascinated with the Duggar family (i think they are up to 17 or 18) and how they accomplish day to day stuff with that many kids...I love the chemistry between kate and her husband. Luke thinks she's bossy and I think to myself, well, someone has to be bossy with that many kids running around, how would they get anything done??? So fun!

And in reply to your comment on my blog...I was very surprised when they called me into RS...the lesson I subbed for was #19 which was on JS trials...so it was like...how can any of us not relate in some way...it was a great lesson to prepare for and i prayed and prayed and prayed everyone got something out of it and felt the spirit...well, apparently they either thought i was so bad i needed practice or a few of them did feel the spirit and for whatever reason...I am in RS now...I'm glad I've got good mentors to bounce info off of... :) My biggest problem is trying not to feel like I need to entertain everyone and save them from boredom in a lesson...that's a tough one...you were always so good at your lessons...and it helped you loved snacks and a relaxing atmosphere, i.e. blankets on the floor... :) I hope you're having a good one!

I bet that is very interesting...I've only seen the show a couple of times but what an amazing family. What I also liked reading about in this post was that Dad had also ordered you a copy of the book without you knowing. That's just like him- so thoughtful to think that this would be a book you would enjoy. :)

I tend to always be in the middle of 3 or 4 books simultaneously (even though I seem to have the reputaion of being illiterate) but I put all the others down and breezed through this one - Jon and Kate - in 2 or 3 days. It is a great read and very uplifting.
